My mother–in–law immediately flew into a rage, pointing her finger at my nose and cursing:
“How dare you speak to me like that, you ill–mannered brat! You’ve lived in this new house for so long and still don’t know how to cook or follow the rules. My son really has bad luck marrying you!”
Frank silently walked to his mother’s side, glaring at me coldly.
Like mother, like son – they were cut from the same cloth.
I put my hands on my hips and said coldly:

Lily, who had just entered, heard this and started crying as if she had suffered some great injustice, running into the kitchen sobbing.
Seeing this, Frank immediately became anxious.
“All of you, stop talking! I’m just letting Lily stay here temporarily to take care of her. Amber, can you stop being such a jealous woman and targeting her? We have a child together, are you afraid I’ll rekindle things with her?”
“If I really couldn’t let her go, would I have let you bear my child?”
Hearing this, I was stunned, my nose stinging with unshed tears.
“Fine, let her stay comfortably. I’m leaving.”
My mother–in–law heard this and glared at me again, full of anger:
“You ungrateful wretch! Lily arrived yesterday and immediately had her child call me grandma. She even massaged my legs and shoulders to show her filial piety. Look at that mute daughter of yours who can’t even speak!”
My daughter is not mute.
When she was little, she got lost while out shopping with my mother–in–law due to her negligence.
I searched for a day and a night before finding my daughter.
She had been curled up asleep in a garbage bin.
The police checked the security footage and found out my daughter had been clever enough to hide in the bin to escape from kidnappers when they weren’t paying attention.
But due to the psychological trauma, my daughter became withdrawn and couldn’t speak.
My mother–in–law felt very guilty afterwards and doted on my daughter even more.
When the neighbor’s child just made a face at my daughter, my mother–in–law scolded them until they cried.
But now, one “grandma” from an outsider was enough to make her change her attitude completely, speaking harshly to us.
Looking at the obvious disgust on Frank and his mother’s faces, I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Yes, yes, whoever wants to be the grandchild in this family can be. It has nothing to do with me anymore.”
Frank wanted to have his cake and eat it too, but I had no intention of being his second wife.
Whoever wanted to be a daughter–in–law in the Foster family could go ahead. As for me, I wouldn’t lower myself for such trash.
Seeing my softened tone, Frank also lowered his voice to lecture me:
“Look, if you take the child back to your mother’s house, won’t people gossip that I’m abusive or cheating? When your husband’s reputation is in tatters, will you be happy then?”
I couldn’t help but sneer at Frank.
