Chapter 6
When I got back, I still felt a bit woozy.
As soon as I walked through the door, Otis pulled me aside. “You alright, Hazel?”
I massaged my throbbing stomach and whispered, “Sorry, Otis. I had stomach surgery before, so I can’t handle much alcohol.”
He frowned and was about to say something.
Then, he noticed the business card in my hand.
His eyes widened in disbelief. “Is that Mr. Sinclair’s personal card?!”
I nodded and remembered my conversation with Adrian.
It was a rare card to get, and it had his direct contact info.
I had no idea why Adrian suddenly offered me a job.
Back then I looked at him cautiously and kept my voice low.
“This is… I’m just a newbie reporter. Why would you offer me a job, Mr. Sinclair?”
Adrian smirked. “Maybe… I find you attractive.”
It wasn’t surprising for Adrian to say something like that.

During our intimate moments, I clenched my teeth, enduring the pain, and grabbed his hair. “Don’t move. You can’t even see. Do you know what you’re doing?”
In the dim light, he raised his head slightly, but his eyes looked empty.
He licked his lips, placed his fingers on my neck, and applied a gentle pressure.
His voice was soft. “My eyes might not work, but everything else does. So, you have to be louder, let me hear it.”
I snapped back to reality and made up a random excuse to deal with Otis.
The next day when I returned to the office, my boss called me in.
He said with a friendly tone, “Hazel, get ready for the popular romance show. You’ll go as a special guest.”
But when I started working, the next assignment was to interview Rachel and Adrian.
After the press conference that day, news of their engagement went viral.
As a pre–show promotion, the director invited fans to comment.
[They’ve been through so much together and now they’re getting married. So romantic!]

[I heard the Parker family’s company was almost bankrupt, but the Sinclair Group saved them.]
[They’re a perfect match, no doubt about it.]
I skimmed through the comments and closed the section.
The host, Matilda Moore, chatted with me while going over the script.
“If we can dig up the story of Mr. Sinclair and his fiancée during those two years, the show will be a hit.”
I gripped the pen in my hand and agreed with her.
No one knew better than me what happened in those two years, but I could only keep it locked away in my heart.
