CHAPTER 30
Matteo’s POV
I reached for the blinking red light from the driver’s coat and it felt like a lifeline, a single thread of hope. It was a GPS tracker.
“Jeoff,” I called, and immediately Jeoff was at my side in seconds, his eyes. narrowing on the device I held out.
“It’s a tracker,” I said, handing it to
him.
Jeoff studied it for a moment before his gaze flicked back to mine. “It‘ s blinking… live feed?”
I nodded and looked at the driver‘ s body, acknowledging in silence what he had done. “He must‘ ve planted it during a
scuffle.”
Jeoff exhaled slowly. “He left us a breadcrumb. Smart move.”
“Too smart,” I muttered.

CHAPTER 30
The driver, one of my most trusted men, was dead under that bridge. But even in hist last moments, he had followed protocol, leaving something behind that could lead us to his killer, and, more importantly, to
Amara.
I took the tracker back, studying the blinking dot on the tiny screen. It displayed a location too far from here, outside of the city. But we have to make sure that this tracker was still attached to the bastard
who did this, or I fear that it might have been discarded. But even if it did, if we could have the identity of the perpetrator, it might lead us somewhere concrete.
I turned to Jeoff who was waiting for further orders. “Order the men to process his body,” I commanded. “I want everything checked. DNA under his nails, fibers on his clothes, anything that can give
us a name or a face.”
Jeoff gave a sharp nod, already pulling out his phone to relay the orders.

I did not waste a second either. I dialed the I.T. team and as soon as the line connected, I spoke, “I am sending something over. A tracker. Verify its live feed and confirm the location.”
“Yes, boss,” the voice on the other end replied without hesitation.
I ended the call and turned back to Jeoff. “We leave in ten minutes. Get the men ready. Fully armed.”
Jeoff nodded in clear understanding.
“Understood.”
As he stepped out to gather the team, I stared at the tracker again. That blinking. dot felt like a taunt, as if it was daring met
to come.
“Amara,” I muttered under my breath, her name barely audible. My throat constricted at the thought of what she might be going through, I knew this world, and its people – cruel, ruthless, and evil. We shoot, we kill, we pour blood… we

torture. And if Amara was caught up in this, I would burn them in all the seven gates of hell. Whoever had her would not get away with this.
They would pay.
Fifteen minutes later, Jeoff was behind the wheel, and I sat in the passenger seat, the tracker now synced to the car’s GPS, and the glowing path on the screen felt both promising and unnerving.
Jeoff broke the silence first. “We will meet the team at the warehouse near Junction. Street. From there, we will plan the approach.”
“Good,” I replied curtly.
I gripped the armrest, my fingers pressing into the leather as my mind spun, thinking how I had failed her. She had told me she did not want extra guards, and that she could handle herself. Was that how she had
been doing all her work back in The
Obsidian before? F*ck that bastard Luca
