CHAPTER 36
Luca’s POV
“You have five seconds to tell me where she is, or I’ll burn this entire house to the ground,” Matteo growled as he stood in the middle of my office, with piercing eyes. locked on mine, daring me to defy him. It was a surprise that he made a courtesy visit, although I had seen it from a mile. away that he was seething, though I was not sure why.
“Who?” I asked, though I already knew. The venom in his tone made it clear.
“Casey,” Matteo spat, dripping with disdain. “Your mistress. The same woman who almost killed Amara.”
I clenched my fist at the mention of her name. Amara. My Amara. My mind stuttered for a moment as the name hung in the air like a sharp blade.
“What?” I barked, stepping closer to him.

“What do you mean, almost killed Amara?”
Matteo did not flinch. Instead, he closed the distance between us in a single stride. and grabbed my collar, yanking me forward and I felt the cold press of steel against my ribs. A gun. I was not fazed, I was used to this. “She‘ s in the hospital, clinging to life because of your woman‘ s stunt,” he hissed at my face, and I could see the the rage in his eyes, showing that he was not bluffing, and the last night‘ s call was not a joke when he was searching Amara from me. “Don’t play dumb, Moretti. You know damn well what Casey is capable of. Now, where is she?”
“I don’t know!” I snapped, gripping his wrist but not daring to push him away.
“Matteo, what the hell happened to Amara? Where is she? I need to see her-”
“You don’t need to see her,” Matteo bit out and his grip on my collar tightened, shoving me back a step, but his gun never

left its aim at me. “What you need to do is find Casey before I do. Because if I find her first, I’ll kill her. And if I find out you are hiding her-”
“I’m not hiding her!” I roared, my hands slamming against the edge of my desk.
Behind Matteo, I caught movement. Two of my men, alerted by the commotion, had entered the room, their guns drawn and aimed at him. Matteo did not even glance. their way. His focus remained entirely on me, and his smirk was cold, taunting.
“Stand down,” I ordered, raising a hand, but my men hesitated as their grips. tightened on their weapons. “I said, stand down!” I ordered, cracking like a whip.
They lowered their guns but did not leave.
“Out. All of you,” I ordered once again.
The men exchanged glances, clearly reluctant, but they obeyed, retreating from the room. The door clicked shut behind

them, leaving Matteo and me alone again.
“You‘ re losing control of your own house, Moretti,” Matteo taunted.
“Pathetic.”
I glared at him “I didn’t know Casey would go this far… Tell me where Amara is, Matteo. Please. I need to see her.”
“Not a chance,” Matteo replied coldly. “You’ll see her when Casey is in front of me, paying for what she did. If you want to prove you are not part of this, bring Casey to me. Otherwise…” He pressed the gun harder against my ribs, his smirk curling into something darker. “I will make sure you and your Syndicate are left with nothing but scraps to survive on.”
The threat was real, and I knew Matteo meant every word. But I could not think about that now. My chest tightened at the thought of Amara, injured, alone, suffering.
“I swear to you,” I pleaded, although it

“No,” he uttered with finality.
Matteo’s eyes were ice as he spoke again. “Bring Casey to me, Moretti. That’s the only way you may get answers, or a chance. to see her.”
He turned on his heel, holstered his gun, and strode out of the office, leaving met alone with my fury and the burning need for answers.
The moment the door slammed shut
behind Matteo, I pulled out my phone and barked orders to my men..
“I want every resource we have dedicated to finding Casey,” I snarled. “I don’t care how long it takes. I want her here, alive, by tonight.”

“Understood, boss,” one of them replied.
I ended the call and grabbed my keys, heading for the door. If my men could not find her fast enough, I would do it myself.
