Chapter 5 Who Did You Marry?
The medical records showed everything – Caroline had been healthy her whole life.
Natalia wasn’t stupid. She put it together fast. “Caroline, have
you been faking being sick? Why would you lie?”
They’d skipped Abigail’s wedding because of this.
If it was all fake, they’d look like total idiots.
Caroline’s face twitched.
“How’d that bitch get my records?” she thought. “Where’d she even find them?”
She knew she had to keep it cool in front of Natalia. One wrong move and she was done.
She took a breath and said, “Mrs. Winchester, I swear I’m not lying…I’ve been sick forever. Been to tons of doctors, but they can’t figure it out.”
Her voice went soft and hurt. “Why would anyone fake being sick? What would I get out of that? But wow, Abigail… I didn’t know you were checking up on my medical records. It’s unsettling, having my privacy invaded like this. What’s your game?”

She broke into another coughing fit, looking so weak it was hard not to believe her.
Felix and Natalie rushed to her side.
When she caught her breath, Caroline said, “Abigail, are you setting me up? Trying to make Mrs. Winchester think I’m lying just to turn her against me? Scared I’ll take her from you? But I never wanted to take anything from you.”
Caroline knew exactly what she was up to – acting all innocent while dropping those bombs.
And just like that, all eyes were on Abigail again.
Natalia, who’d been feeling bad about earlier, now looked at Abigail suspiciously.
“Abigail, why did you dig into Caroline’s medical records? Weren’t you guys best friends? You told me you were glad she was staying here.”
Now Natalia didn’t know what to think.
Maybe Abigail had been faking it the whole time, plotting something behind their backs.
She couldn’t believe the daughter she’d raised would pull something like this. What a letdown.
Abigail caught Natalia’s dirty look and smirked.

She looked down and said flatly, “I don’t care if she stays or not, You missed my wedding, so you probably don’t know…”
They all stared at her, lost.
“I’m married now,” she said slowly. “Just came to get my stuff. I won’t be around to bug you anymore.”
Whatever they did with Caroline wasn’t her problem now.
The room went dead quiet.
Caroline couldn’t hide the excitement in her eyes. Natalia looked totally spooked, and Felix was just standing there, jaw dropped.
“If I wasn’t there… who did you marry?”
Abigail let out a harsh laugh.

She shot him an icy smile. “News flash – you’re not the only guy in town who’d marry me.”
Felix’s face got dark, anger in his eyes. He took a step closer. “Look, I messed up by missing our wedding, but don’t be like this. Why are you trying to get under my skin?”
Everyone knew she was supposed to be his girl.
He couldn’t even wrap his head around someone else marrying her.
Abigail didn’t say a word. She just walked past them and went

A few minutes later, she came back down dragging a suitcase.

Felix and everyone else were still in the living room, staring at her when they heard her coming down.
“Wait, you actually got married?”
Felix jumped up, looking like he couldn’t believe it.
