As they drove on, it hit her. Of course he was upset – what man wants to hear his wife had desperately wanted to marry someone else?

“Abigail, tell me exactly what’s going on here?” Gianna’s voice crackled through the phone, prompting Abigail to steal another glance at Marcus.
In a moment of impulsive clarity, she blurted out, “Gianna, I’m married now.”
“What?!” Gianna’s voice was a mix of shock and disbelief.
Abigail continued with a nonchalant shrug, “Felix ran off on our wedding day, so I went ahead and found myself a new husband.”
The words lingered in the air, softly echoing.
Marcus, sitting beside her, offered a small, almost amused smile.
“Abigail!” Gianna’s voice snapped back, sharp with anger. “Why are you only telling me this now? Who did you marry? What do you mean by ‘new husband‘? You didn’t just find a random guy at the wedding, did you? Even if you’re trying to get back at Felix, this isn’t the way to do it. Marriage is supposed to be for life, you know!”
Even Gianna, who thought she knew Abigail best, couldn’t

believe her cars. It was clear to everyone how deeply Abigail had loved Felix.
As Abigail listened to Gianna’s angry tirade, a warmth spread through her chest.
It reminded her that only those who truly cared would worry about her acting impulsively.
She lowered her gaze, her voice quiet yet resolute. “Gianna, I’m serious about this.”
“Yeah, right!” Gianna retorted, her voice tinged with irritation.
But then she softened, her tone turning more earnest. “Abigail, if you’re really looking to get under Felix’s skin, I can introduce you to a hundred guys–handsome ones, far better than him. You could be living the high life every night. But please, don’t just marry any random guy!”
Abigail felt the air in the car grow colder at Gianna’s words.
She turned stiffly to face Marcus, meeting his cool, almost icy
gaze.
She had just managed to calm him down, and now she feared he might be upset again.
Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she quickly clarified, “What a hundred guys? That has nothing to do with me! I’m already married, so please, don’t say things like that.”

Before Gianna could reply, Abigail added, “And my husband isn’t some random guy. He’s a hundred times better looking than Felix!”
She said it with unwavering confidence, without a second thought.
With Marcus‘ striking features, he was undeniably one of the most handsome men in the city.
Felix never stood a chance.
Marcus appeared satisfied, but Gianna, still skeptical, wasn’t convinced.
Yet with the marriage certificate in her possession, any more arguing was futile.
Sighing, Gianna finally relented. “Alright, since you’re already married, bring him out so I can meet him.”

She gritted her teeth and added, “I want to see which lucky guy managed to marry you!”
Abigail laughed softly, the tension dissipating. “Got it.”
But before ending the call, Gianna said, “Abigail, I’ve heard some rumors about your background…”
Abigail’s smile vanished in an instant, her body freezing as if caught in a sudden chill.

This was the one topic she had always dreaded discussing.
For over twenty years, she had lived the life of a privileged. daughter in a wealthy family, only to discover she had been switched at birth.
Now whispers followed her through high society, mocking laughter hiding behind polite smiles.

Gianna’s voice cut through Abigail’s swirling thoughts, light yet unwavering. “Abigail, don’t overthink it. No matter who your real parents are, you’re still my best friend!”
She continued, “Don’t feel pressured to rush into a marriage just because you think you have no one else to rely on. If your husband treats you poorly, just get a divorce. I’ll always be here to support you!”
“Gianna, thank you,” Abigail’s voice softened with gratitude.
“When everyone else left, you stayed,” she whispered.
“Enough with the sentimental stuff,” came the reply. “Just remember, you’ve got a backup plan. Anyway, I’ve got things to do, so I’m hanging up now.”
As the call ended, Abigail felt a wave of relief wash over her.
The uncertainty and confusion that had clouded her mind earlier seemed to dissipate.
She was on the brink of a new chapter in her life, and suddenly,

Still moved by the conversation, she was startled when Marcus spoke up.
“There will be no divorce,” his voice cut like steel. “Only death will part us.”
