Chapter 14 Vomiting from Kissing?
Marcus flipped the switch in the living room.
What he found was Abigail sprawled on the couch in a silk nightgown, already drunk and unconscious.
The light was probably too harsh; she moaned and buried her face in the cushions.
As he moved closer, he heard her softly crying and mumbling, “Why did you all leave me…”
In an instant, Marcus felt a surge of annoyance and regret.
The heartache washed over him. Leaning down, he gently patted her head and whispered, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have left you alone.”
If he had known Abigail couldn’t take care of herself, he would have stayed, despite her shyness.
After patting her head soothingly, Marcus leaned over and wanted to pick her up.
As soon as Abigail turned over, he saw her red, swollen eyes tear–streaked face.
His heart broke again as he wondered how long she had been crying.

A flash of self–blame crossed his face as he lifted her carefully into his arms.
In her dazed state, Abigail sensed someone beside her. Subconsciously, she waved her hand and grabbed the tie of Marcus‘ shirt.
She was half curled up on the couch, her head tilting back, exposing her neck. Her eyes were shut, but she murmured. softly, “Felix…”
That gentle voice struck Marcus, catching him completely off guard.
She was still thinking about Felix.
Marcus‘ heart sank, and the warmth in his
gaze
vanished,
replaced by a cold, sarcastic look.

He took one last look at Abigail before turning to leave.
But Abigail wrapped her arms around his waist, nuzzling her head against his chest, and said softly, “What a nice physique. You have abs…”
She grinned foolishly, satisfied, and slipped her hand into Marcus‘ shirt, chuckling, “No way this body belongs to that jerk Felix. It’s obviously my new husband!”
“Honey, hug me,” she murmured, then stretched out her arms and tilted her head back, pouting her lovely rosy lips.

Every musele in Marcus‘ body tensed, especially the ones in his abdomen that had just felt her soft touch.
He lowered his eyes, staring at Abigail in his arms, breathing a little heavily. “Abigail, do you realize what you’re doing?”
Once they got involved, he wouldn’t let her go.
Abigail, in her drunken haze, had no idea what he was
talking about. She simply kicked her legs and muttered in dissatisfaction, “Why don’t you come and hug me? You don’t like me anymore…”
With a resigned sigh, Marcus leaned over and picked her up.
Abigail wrapped her arms around his shoulders, her breath brushing against his neck.
Marcus paused as a blush crept up his earlobes.
His body felt like it was on fire.
Still oblivious, Abigail squirmed in his arms and mumbled incoherently, “Honey, can you sleep beside me? I’m scared to sleep alone…”
Marcus stumbled slightly, nearly dropping her.
He chuckled to himself, thinking, “She’s much more honest when she’s drunk.”

He carried Abigail back to the master bedroom but didn’t find her luggage.
Gently placing her on the dark gray bed, Marcus leaned over
to tuck her hair behind her ears, his eyes roaming her smooth checks to her pink lips.
The memory of her unexpected touch at City Hall lingered in his mind.
He bent down slightly.
The distance between them closed, but at the last moment, Marcus stopped.
No, taking advantage wasn’t what a gentleman should do.
And she didn’t have feelings for him now.
With a tense expression, Marcus was about to pull away, but suddenly, a pair of soft arms wrapped around his neck and drew him down.
Without warning, their lips met.
Marcus froze as he saw Abigail’s pretty eyes widen in confusion, her gaze locked onto his.
At that moment, he actually felt a twinge of guilt.
Now there was no reason to leave.

Marcus deepened the kiss gradually, allowing passion to take over. His hands gripped her waist firmly, leaving her no chance
to escape.
As time passed, Abigail began to struggle, her face flushing as she fought for air, her soft hands pushing against Marcus‘ chest.
But he didn’t budge.
She whimpered, kicking.
Just as he finally let go, Abigail leaned over the edge of the bed and vomited violently.
Marcus was caught off guard.
