Chapter 24 Marcus‘ Warning
Abigail’s mind wandered back to the perfect figure of Marcus as he stood before the dressing mirror this morning.
With a physique like that, he must be quite skilled in bed.
Suddenly, she shook her head, chastising herself, “No, no. What am I thinking?
How can I be so inappropriate in front of him? This is so embarrassing!”
Her cheeks flushed, and she avoided looking at Marcus, eager to change the topic. “What are you doing here? Have you eaten yet?”
“No, I’m here to pick you up,” Marcus replied, a knowing smile on his face that made Abigail feel uneasy.
Once she composed herself, Abigail joked, “Well, I’ll treat you to dinner, just so others will be sure you’re a freeloader.”
Marcus responded, “Alright, Mrs. Fitzgerald. Since you’re offering, I’ll pick the restaurant. How does that sound?”
“Sounds good,” Abigail replied, even though she felt her cheeks heat up at the title of Mrs. Fitzgerald.
But since she was the one inviting him, it made sense for him to

They arrived at Epicurean Cuisine, a newly opened restaurant in Claudia known for its classy decor and stunning ambiance.
The dinner crowd was lively, with a line of luxury cars parked out front–a clear sign that only the truly affluent dined here.
The business was thriving so much that even some well–known figures had to wait in line for a table.
Abigail felt anxious as she observed the opulent surroundings.
Though she had once been part of the Winchester family, she had never stepped foot in such an extravagant place, having always preferred simpler settings.
She wasn’t sure if she could afford this meal, but she didn’t want to let Marcus down.
Determined, Abigail steeled herself and prepared to wait in line
with Marcus.
Just then, a mocking female voice called out from behind, “Oh
my,
look who it is! The fake lady of the Winchester family.”
Her remarks were so targeted that Abigail knew the woman was talking about her without even turning around. Her face fell.
Ignoring the comment, she tried to walk away with Marcus.
But the woman approached, continuing her taunts. “How

shameless! You stole someone else’s identity, and now you’re spending someone else’s money to take a man out…”

Before she could finish, Danna Garner’s gaze landed on Marcus, and for a moment, surprise flickered across her face, softening her sneer.
Danna thought, “Damn it, why is Abigail surrounded by such attractive men?
He’s good–looking. But so what?
He’s still driving a stupid car only worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Only someone like Abigail would fall for a man who is merely easy on the eyes.”
Regaining her composure, Danna mocked, “Abigail, even though Mr. Felix Fitzgerald dumped you, you don’t have to go for someone who resembles him, do you?”
Abigail retorted, “Are you blind?”
How on earth did Marcus look like Felix?
She stepped closer to Marcus, linking her arm with his and leaning in affectionately. “My husband is way more handsome than Felix. How could you even compare? Maybe you should find a better match for yourself instead of pining over your old and ugly fiancé!”

Danna’s expression immediately darkened.

Her family had just arranged a marriage for her, and her fiancé was indeed older and less than attractive.
“How dare you mock me, you bitch!” Danna spat, furious.
Feeling humiliated in front of onlookers, she raised her hand to slap Abigail.
But before she could make contact, Marcus seized Danna’s wrist, his grip almost crushing.
Danna winced, unable to pull away, and let out a pained groan. “It hurts! Let go! Do you even know who I am?”
“I’m not interested in knowing,” Marcus retorted, pushing her away with a cold glare that radiated authority. “I don’t have a rule against hitting women. If you can’t control your hands next time, don’t keep them.”
Under the intensity of his sharp, menacing gaze, Danna felt fear.
