Marcus‘ heart skipped a beat, and he quickly looked away, raising a hand to cover his lips as he coughed softly, his breath a little unsteady.
He thought, “What is she going to say?
Is she asking for a divorce…?”
After a moment, her voice rang out like the chirp of a warbler. “Marcus, what kind of car do you like?”
His eyes flickered, his expression pale for a moment. “What kind of car? What do you mean? Are you buying a car?”
He thought, “She had looked so serious just now. Was she just thinking about this?”

“That meal we just had was thanks to your friend. I guess you could say you paid for it.

It was all in good fun. She wasn’t really suggesting that Marcus was a sugar baby.
In the span of a minute, Marcus‘ emotions were like a rollercoaster, and he was still a little stunned. “I…”
“You want it or not?” Abigail gave him a mock glare.
“I’ll take it! As long as you’re buying, I’ll like
any car!”
He would gladly accept it no matter what Abigail’s true intention. was in offering him a car.
He thought, “At least she was thinking of me, wasn’t she?”
“That’s more like it! I’ll get you an expensive one!” Abigail looked down and started scrolling through her phone again.
After a couple of seconds, she suddenly paused, realizing something, and explained seriously, “I’m not saying your car is bad. It’s just that now that we’re married. You took care of the house, so I should get you a car. And also…”

She stopped again, her voice soft but full of conviction. “I want everyone to see that I married you for real, to build a life together, not just to spite anyone!”
She had seen the discussions on Instagram, too.
She couldn’t explain herself to everyone individually.
But as long as they lived well together, the rumors would die on their own.
When she said this, Abigail’s eyes were full of determination and hope for the future, with no sign of pretense.
She was really ready to leave the past behind and start a life with Marcus.

“Okay,” Abigail replied, scrolling through her phone with focus, and then handed the phone to him. “I picked a few brands. Which one do you like?”
Marcus didn’t take her phone but looked closely at the options she had displayed.
After a moment, he said slowly, “The first one. I have a friend who sells cars. If I talk to him, there might be a discount. You send me the screenshot, and I’ll talk to him.”
Abigail agreed and quickly saved the screenshot, saying, “Alright, once you talk to him, I’ll pay for it.”
Though she didn’t have much left in her salary, she’d saved up from design fees and livestream earnings in a separate account over the years, so buying a car wasn’t an issue.
Just as she was about to send the picture, Abigail suddenly realized something.
“I don’t have your contact information yet.”
It was kind of funny. After getting married, they still hadn’t exchanged numbers or connected on WhatsApp.
Marcus cursed himself for the oversight and then pulled out his phone and scanned her QR code.
