Chapter 36 A Lovesick Man
After reading the message, Anthony called back, laughing for over ten seconds before saying, “So the richest guy around can’t even spend money on women, huh?”
Marcus frowned and replied calmly, “I’ve decided to pull my investment from the Envision Group’s new project.”
“No way. Come on, we’re friends. Let me give you some advice.” Anthony quickly turned serious and suggested, “Since Abigail gives relationship advice, just tell her you went through a rough patch in a previous relationship and even tried to kill yourself. It was only after watching her live–streaming that you managed to find some clarity, and now you’re sending her gifts to thank her for saving your life. Then, she won’t insist on giving the money back.”
It sounded like a plausible plan. But after a moment’s thought, Marcus frowned again. “I don’t want to lie to her.”
Anthony was rendered speechless.
Then why did he hide his identity from her in the first place?
Anthony even felt Marcus was acting a little lovesick, completely different from the Marcus he used to know. He was hesitating over something so trivial.
Was this what falling in love looked like? It was terrifying!
Anthony pressed on, “This isn’t deception; it’s just a little white lie. After all, you gave her gifts online, and she doesn’t know it’s
you.”
“Fine,” Marcus finally relented. After hanging up, he sent at direct message to Abigail, following Anthony’s suggestion.
Sure enough, after reading the message, Abigail pictured a heartbroken man, abandoned by his girlfriend, who was feeling so low he wanted to end it all, only to be saved by her.
She thought, having been abandoned, he must be feeling very vulnerable right now. Insisting on a refund could push him over the edge.
With that in mind, Abigail decided to accept his gifts for now.
Seeing that Abigail was no longer pressing for a refund and had even sent him a long message of encouragement, Marcus finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, he felt guilty about lying to someone as kind as Abigail.
He didn’t think this situation would last forever; he would find the right moment to come clean to her.
After the refund issue was settled, Abigail continued her livestream, where viewers sent questions about their relationships.

As Abigail patiently explained everything, a request for a voice. chat suddenly popped up on the screen.
“Someone’s applied for a live match. What’s this?” Abigail murmured, uncertain. She was about to decline when she accidentally clicked “Agree.”
Since this was a new feature, Abigail was unfamiliar with it and felt a bit lost as the face of the streamer appeared on her screen.
She was a pretty streamer, heavily filtered.
Upon seeing Abigail join the voice chat, the other streamer quickly said, “I can’t see your face. Are you hiding it? It’s impressive to be so popular without showing your face!”
Her tone dripped with sarcasm, and Abigail felt a flicker of disgust.
She wanted to exit the voice chat immediately.
However, Caroline continued, “Since you’ve accepted the battle, let’s do this. What do you want to battle over?”
Abigail was stunned, not even sure what she meant.
