Chapter 40 She’s Losing
Caroline was furious, her teeth clenched tightly.
Just as her mood hit rock bottom, there was a knock on the
door.
“Caroline, it’s me. Can I come in?” came Natalia’s voice from
outside.
Caroline quickly turned off the camera and microphone for her livestream and replied, “Yes.”
Natalia entered with a tray of fruit and said, “Caroline, I brought you some fruit.”
As the door swung open, Caroline lowered her head, pretending to wipe away tears, and murmured, “Natalia, thank you, but I really don’t have an appetite right now.”
Seeing Caroline looking upset, Natalia was worried. She placed the tray down and rushed over, asking, “Are you crying? What happened? Are you being bullied?”
Caroline’s eyes welled up with tears. She shook her head but couldn’t hide her hurt as she whispered, “I’m fine. I was live–streaming with someone, and she hired trolls to attack me. The insults were pretty harsh, and it got to me. I’m sorry to worry you.”

Natalia felt a pang of distress and frowned. “Who is she? How could her fans be so cruel? Let me find out!”
Caroline looked down and sobbed lightly, “My top gifter left
for her channel, and now no one’s sending me gifts. They’re laughing at me.”
Caroline’s crying broke Natalia’s heart.
Even though Caroline hadn’t officially called her “Mom” yet, she already thought of her as a daughter and couldn’t bear to see her hurt.
“It’s okay, Caroline. Don’t cry. I’ll help you!” Natalia declared, immediately logging into her account and topping up two million dollars.
Then, she entered Caroline’s channel and started showering her with gifts.
She didn’t care about how much she would spend.
The point was that she couldn’t let her daughter lose.
Caroline’s fans were worried that with her top gifter gone, she would fall behind Abby.
But then, out of nowhere, a wealthy lady appeared and dropped two million dollars in one go, easily helping Caroline surpass Abby and causing a wave of envy among the viewers.
Natalia hadn’t paid much attention to who Caroline was battling

She found the name so familiar.

After a moment of thought, she shook her head, dismissing her suspicions, thinking, “It must just be a coincidence. Abigail is focused on her work and wouldn’t do something like this.”
Meanwhile, Abigail recognized Natalia’s account the moment she saw the first gift come through.
It wasn’t that she had a great memory; it was because she had registered the account for Natalia herself.
Abigail had initially wanted Natalia to keep up with the young people so she wouldn’t feel so lonely.
She usually lived frugally, saving her salary to buy gifts and send money to Natalia.
Now, however, Natalia was using her hard–earned money to help Caroline compete against her.
Abigail couldn’t help but feel the irony of it all.
Upset, she fell silent for quite a while.
Noticing her quietness, her fans assumed she was feeling down and flooded the channel with comforting comments.
[Don’t worry, honey. She’s only ahead by a little. There are still two minutes left–there’s still a chance!]

Since Abigail had firmly requested no more gifts, her fans · couldn’t encourage viewers to send her any.

Suddenly, Hearts began to flood Abigail’s channel.
Many viewers sent messages of support and affection.
Meanwhile, Marcus was still lost in Abigail’s beautiful singing.
After sending over a thousand valuable gifts, he looked up and saw the deluge of love–filled comments and someone even wanted to marry her, furrowing his brow.
“What’s wrong with these people? Why are they all trying to steal my wife?” he thought to himself.
