Chapter 54 Here Comes the Ex
William, usually mild–mannered and easygoing, flushed red with anger. Troy, on the other hand, completely exploded. Rolling up his sleeves, he shouted, “How dare you curse my mom? I’m going to beat the crap out of you today!”

Adela, lying in her wheelchair, had woken up at some point and was now waving weakly in Troy’s direction. “Troy…”
Hearing his mother’s voice, Troy snapped out of his rage immediately. Forgetting all about the argument with the nurse, he rushed to Adela’s side. “Mom… How are you feeling?”
William hurried over as well. “Honey…”
Adela looked at the father and son standing before her, her gaze shifting around the room as if searching for someone. When she didn’t find the person she was looking for, a flicker of disappointment crossed her eyes.
Enduring the pain wracking her body, she grasped Troy’s hand with difficulty and said, “Troy, don’t go around fighting people. We… we won’t do the treatment anymore. Let’s just go… home…”
Before Adela could finish, she was overcome by a violent. coughing fit, and a splash of bright red blood stained Troy’s clothes. He let out a heart–wrenching cry, dropping to his knees as he held her frail body in his arms.

William reached out and pulled both of them into his embrace, the three of them shrouded in a silent, overwhelming despair.
The nurse let out a mean–spirited laugh, her voice sharp as she spoke. “How long are you guys planning to loiter here? If you can’t afford treatment, then hurry up and leave. You’ve already dirtied the newly cleaned floor. If you don’t go now, I’ll call
security—”
Abigail suddenly turned around, glaring at the nurse with an icy, razor–sharp stare that could cut through steel. “Shut your mouth. Do you even have a shred of humanity, acting like this while working in a hospital?” The nurse froze, momentarily stunned by the cold terror creeping over her.
Abigail pointed a finger straight at her face, her tone as fierce ast a blade. “If I hear another word out of you. I’ll make sure you regret it.” As she spoke, she pulled out her phone, found a saved number, and made a call. The moment the line connected, she said firmly. “Dr. Hansen, good afternoon.”
Hearing Abigail mention the hospital’s deputy director by name, the nurse faltered, her hand freezing mid–air as she reached for her own phone to call security. She thought incredulously, “She knows the deputy director of the hospital?” The color drained from her face.
Abigail didn’t spare her another glance. Speaking directly into the phone, she continued, “Dr. Hansen, this is Abigail. I’m on the first floor of Reginald Hospital now. There’s a critically ill patient here, and they need immediate surgery. I’d like to ask for

Jeremy Hansen, the deputy director of Reginald Hospital, didn’t even let her finish her sentence before cutting her off, “Sorry, Ms. Winchester, I can’t help you with this.”
Abigail mused, “Jeremy used to address me so warmly and even encouraged me to stay together with Felix. Now, he greets me with a cold and distant ‘Ms. Winchester.‘ He’s clearly siding with Felix, refusing to help me.”
Her expression darkened, and she tried to plead again, but Jeremy simply hung up on her. She hadn’t expected him to be so heartless. Left with no choice, she called another contact listed as “X” in her phone, only for it to go straight to voicemail.
Frowning, Abigail lowered her head, preparing to type out a message. Just then, a familiar, cool male voice called out from nearby, “What’s going on here?”
When she turned and saw Felix, her first reaction was to furrow her brows. She wondered, “How is this so coincidental? I just called Dr. Hansen, and now Felix shows up.”
The nurse, recognizing Felix’s status, eagerly added fuel to the fire. “Mr. Felix Fitzgerald, this family is here to make trouble. They refuse to leave and insist on seeing Dr. Weber. When I explained that the hospital has its own policies, that young man even tried to hit me!”
Troy immediately snapped back, “What nonsense are you spouting? You were the one cursing my mom-

“What’s with all the yelling?” Felix interrupted, his cold gaze sweeping over Troy. “This is a hospital. Keep it quiet.”

Troy clenched his teeth, feeling humiliated. He knew all too well that this arrogant rich man didn’t care about the lives of people like them. His disdainful eyes made it clear.
Troy’s fists tightened, but his mother, Adela, reached out from behind and grabbed his hand. She wanted to say they should give up and go home, but her body felt drained of all strength. She opened her mouth, yet no words came out. Watching this, Abigail felt as if something had hit her squarely in the chest.
Felix, however, seemed entirely unaffected. With one hand in his pocket, he tilted his head slightly toward Abigail and spoke with casual indifference, “Abigail, I heard you just called my uncle?”
