Caroline’s face darkened. There was no way she was going to believe that Abigail’s husband could afford such an expensive
car.
Caroline thought, “Millions? If he really had that kind of money, why would he randomly marry a woman he met at a wedding? And why would they live on Seabreeze Road?
Sure, there are some upscale apartments there, but they’re nothing compared to the grandeur of Winchester Villa.”
With these thoughts bolstering her confidence, Caroline straightened her back and sneered defiantly, “Maybe they rented the car just to show off.”
The male colleague rolled his eyes at Caroline’s words. He couldn’t even be bothered to respond. He thought, “She doesn’t get it. Sure, you can rent luxury cars, but no one in their right mind would rent out a car with millions in custom modifications.”
This little episode only made the other colleagues present dislike Caroline even more. They all silently hoped that Abigail would hurry up and swat this annoying fly out of the company for good, restoring some much–needed peace to their workplace.
After getting in the car, Abigail noticed the interior was decorated in her favorite shade of soft yellow hue. “How did you

know I like these?” she asked.

On the passenger seal sat an adorable plush bear, its fluffy fur and goofy expression irresistibly charming.
The moment Abigail saw it, she scooped it up into her arms, tugging at its ears as she glanced around the car. The more she looked, the happier she felt.
There was no way Marcus, a grown man, would have a penchant for pale yellow or cuddly bears. It had to be something he had prepared just for her.
Abigail turned to Marcus, her gaze softening. She had never explicitly shared her preferences, yet everything he prepared matched exactly what she loved. “Was it a coincidence, or had he gone out of his way to make me happy?” she wondered.
As Marcus drove, he explained, “Most of your accessories are bear–themed, and a lot of your bags and clothes are pale yellow.”
Abigail’s feelings grew complicated as she listened. She thought of Felix, who had been with her for three years but never noticed. such small details, let alone care about her preferences.
Yet Marcus, someone Abigail had only known for a few days, had already picked up on these little things about her.
Abigail thought, “They say when you like someone, you notice everything about them. Does this mean Marcus likes me, even just a little?”

Abigail quickly shook her head, pushing the thought away. “I’m probably overthinking,” she told herself. “I overheard Marcus telling his mother that our rushed marriage was only for the kid.
We’ve only known each other for a few days. There’s no way my charm is so extraordinary that a man as remarkable as Marcus could fall for me so quickly.
He’s a gentleman and a responsible person. He probably made the effort because I’m his wife, and he feels he must take care of
me.”
Unaware of Abigail’s thought, Marcus continued driving but suddenly received a call.
Sliding on a Bluetooth headset with one hand, Marcus listened to the caller before glancing sideways at Abigail. “I’ll ask her,” he
said.
Abigail raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
Marcus asked gently, “A friend of mine wants to invite us to dinner. Are you up for it?”
Knowing the person on the other end was waiting for an answer, Abigail didn’t hesitate. She nodded. “Sure.”
After ending the call, Marcus turned to Abigail and said, “I’ve been meaning to arrange a gathering with this friend of mine, but I was worried you might be too busy. If you’re not comfortable going, there’s no need to force yourself.”

Abigail was touched and smiled, “No, it’s fine. I’d love to meet your friend.”
At the same time, Abigail grew curious about Marcus‘ friend. “Marcus only recently moved to Claudia. This friend must be someone he knew before. But who could it be?” She wondered.
Half an hour later, the car pulled up at Epicurean Cuisine, the private restaurant they had visited before.
As Abigail stepped out of the car, she noticed a striking man at the entrance. His slicked–back hair, dark sunglasses, and sharp features gave him a rebellious, confident vibe. While undeniably handsome, his flashy style felt a bit over–the–top to her.
Abigail allowed herself a quick glance before looking away. She stood quietly, waiting for Marcus to park the car.
To Abigail’s surprise, the man strode over to her, his earlier rebellious demeanor replaced by an enthusiastic grin. Extending his hand, he said, “Hello, Mrs. Fitzgerald. Nice to meet you. I’m Anthony Harrison, a good friend of your husband.”
Abigail was at a loss for words. She thought, “Anthony Harrison… This flashy guy is actually the CEO of Envision Group. The same Anthony with the infamous reputation?
No wonder so many wealthy heiresses in Claudia chased after him, even knowing his playboy ways. He definitely has the charm to pull it off.”
Abigail couldn’t deny her curiosity about Anthony. Seeing that

he seemed harmless enough, she decided to return his handshake.

But just as Abigail reached out, she felt a warm arm wrap around her shoulders. Before she knew it, Marcus had pulled her back into his broad chest. Marcus‘ face remained impassive as he said, “It’s cold outside. Let’s head in.”
“Alright.” Abigail didn’t think much of it and forgot all about the handshake as she followed Marcus into the restaurant.
Watching the two walk away, Anthony raised an eyebrow. He thought, “Did I just see the ever–cool Marcus Fitzgerald get jealous? Really? All I wanted was a polite handshake, and hist possessiveness was already off the charts.”
The three entered the restaurant. The food had already been ordered, including all the restaurant’s signature dishes. Once they sat down, plates began arriving one after another.
During the meal, Abigail sat back and relaxed as Marcus took care of everything for her. He carefully peeled all the shrimp and crab before placing them on her plate.
Abigail was already used to it, but Anthony stared in disbelief, his jaw nearly hitting the table. He thought, “What the hell? Is this the same Marcus Fitzgerald I know?”
