Chapter 82 Meeting His Friend
Anthony could hardly believe his eyes. Quietly, he recorded at short video of Marcus peeling shrimp for Abigail and sent it to the group chat.
The group chat had been created since Marcus announced his marriage on social media. Curious to dig up more gossip, Anthony had secretly formed a chat without Marcus. Most of the time, the group was silent. But now, Anthony’s shrimp–peeling video had everyone reply.
One typed: [AI face–swapping is illegal. I’m reporting this!]
Anthony replied: [Oh, please. Get your eyes checked–this is the real deal.]
Another commented: [No way. This isn’t Marcus. He must be possessed.]
Their friends refused to believe it. They thought, “Marcus, lowering himself like this? Impossible. He is Marcus Fitzgerald. He is Veridon’s golden boy and the head of the Fitzgerald family. Who could’ve imagined he’d humble himself like this for a woman?”
Meanwhile, Abigail was starting to feel awkward with Anthony sitting right there. Having Marcus fuss over her like this in front of his friend made her feel like she was being unreasonable. She thought, “Should I stop Marcus? After all, his friend is here.”

Hesitating for a moment, Abigail dodged the shrimp Marcus offered her and said softly, “I’ll do it myself. You should eat,
Loo.”

Marcus chuckled, undeterred. He brought the shrimp closer to Abigail’s lips and said, “I’m worried you might hurt your hands.”
Noticing Anthony’s gaze, Abigail blushed. She quickly lowered her head and took the shrimp from Marcus‘ hand in one quick
bite.
Anthony grinned mischievously. He looked at Marcus and teased, “Hey, I want to eat shrimp too. But I’m afraid I’ll hurt my hands. What should I do?”
Abigail’s face flushed even redder at Anthony’s words. She wished she could just disappear.
Marcus shot Anthony a cold glance. His icy gaze carried a faint, chilling threat.
Anthony felt a shiver run down his spine. He quickly raised his hands in surrender. “I forgot I’m allergic to seafood. I can’t eat it. You’d better keep peeling for your lovely wife.”
Abigail couldn’t help but laugh while watching Anthony back down. Anthony was even funnier than she’d imagined.
Unable to get the upper hand, Anthony went back to the group chat to complain about Marcus.

Anthony typed: [Everyone, I’m miserable. Watching their lovey–dovey moments is bad enough, but now Marcus is giving me a death glare! I can’t take it. Who gets my pain?]
One of his friends replied: [You’re just spineless! You deserve it!]
Another replied: [Honestly, Marcus is quite reasonable. Don’t back down. Just grab the food!]
Anthony sneered and typed back: [Oh, really? You think you’re braver than me? Dare to fight Marcus‘ wife for food in front of him?]
One replied: [No. You’re right. Men in love are terrifying. I’d like to live a few more years.]
Another typed: [This fragile friendship won’t survive the fallout.]
The other two in the group chat quickly agreed, following their instincts to protect themselves.
Anthony was speechless. These guys talked big, but when push. came to shove, they were all bark and no bite.
Abigail was eating quietly, but she couldn’t help noticing Anthony glancing down at his phone now and then, his
expression oddly serious. She assumed he must have something important to handle.
Since this was just a casual gathering among friends, Abigail

didn’t want to hold Anthony up from actual work.
Marcus cleared his throat when he caught Abigail looking in Anthony’s direction again.

The sudden chill in the air made Anthony snap to attention. He quickly put his phone away and apologized. “Sorry, Abigail. I didn’t mean to be rude. I had some urgent work, but it’s all taken care of now.”
Abigail waved it off with a warm smile. “It’s fine, I understand.”
Abigail really didn’t mind. After all, she was a workaholic herself. What surprised her was that Anthony would apologize for something so trivial. She thought, “Maybe the rumors about Anthony aren’t entirely accurate. He actually seems quite easygoing.”
At the same time, Anthony thought, “Abigail is way too understanding and personable than Marcus.”
Anthony’s smile grew wider as he asked, “So, Abigail, how’s the new car? Are you happy with it?”
Anthony had personally overseen the custom modifications. If there was anything Abigail wasn’t happy with, he’d gladly tweak it. Before, it had been for Marcus‘ sake. Now, he felt like Abigail was worth the extra effort.
“I love it!” Abigail nodded enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling with joy. “That two million dollars was totally worth it!”
Chapter 82 Meeting His Friend Anthony froze, thinking, “Wait… two million dollars?”
