Felicia’s gaze shifted between Stephan and Imogen before finally lusding on Scarlet, who was looking at her knowingly.
Scarlet pulled Felicia aside and whispered, “Boss, don’t you think this is aimed at you?”
Before Felicia could respond, Imogen’s phone started ringing The call was from an unknown number.
Imogen, still trying to comfort the crying Caleb, was too frazzled to answer. Stephan took the phone from her, swiped to accept the call, and turned on speaker mode.
Immediately, Johanna’s voice came through. It was soft and seemingly polite yel dripping with malicious satisfaction.
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it, everyone?”
Her tone was sweet and condescending, brimming with the kind of glee that came from feeling in control. Then, she said something that made everyone freeze–she mentioned

“With Felicia there, you must already know Caleb has been implanted with a venomous creature. This creature can’t be removed. It‘ slowly torment him, pushing him into unbearable pain until he eventually succombs… and dies.”
The blatant cruelty in Johanna’s words made Imogen want to reach through the phone and pull her out just to beat her senseless.
But given the situation, Imogen could only suppress her fury and force herself to ask, “What do you want?!
A mocking laugh echoed from the other end. There was silence for a few moments before Johanna spoke again, her tone eerily calm and calculated.
“I want you to pay with your life. I want you to take a knife, cut yourself, and trade your life for your son’s Are you willing
“Fine!” Imogen agreed without hesitation, her only thought being to save Caleb.
It seemed Johanna had expected this. There was no pause before she responded. It was unclear what she did on her end, but Caleb’s cries began to weaken. His sobs turned into hiccups, though his face was still red from the strain. Soon, he drifted off into an exhausted sleep.
Just as Imogen began to feel a sliver of relief, Johanna’s voice cut through again, cold and unyielding. “This is only temporary Felicia should know exactly what kind of venomous creature this is. It has no cure If you want the child to survive, let Felicia take the call ”
There was no apparent issue with this request. After all, Felicia was the only one present who was inedically trained.
Without thinking twice, Imogen handed the phone to Felicia, her expression pleading
Felicia was just about to take it when a strong, slender hand reached out in front of her, effortlessly taking the phone instead.
It was Stephan.
Felicia turned to him, and only then did she notice what he was doing with his other hand. His fingers were deftly tapping away on a tablet, entering lines of code, His clean, well- defined hand–with its visible veins and precise movements–was mesmerizingly efficient
On the tablet screen, data streamed by, and it was clear he was actively tracking the call.
Felicia finally understood his intention. He was trying to use the call to pinpoint Johanna’s location.
Forget the threats. Once they found her, they would have plenty of ways to make her talk.
With that realization, Felicia decided to play along. She leaned in and said into the phone, “I’m listening Go ahead”
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Johanna’s voice returned, this time accompanied by an unsettling laugh.
“Felicia, you should know why I’m looking for you, don’t you?”
Felicia let out a low chuckle,
