Chapter 111 Help Her Break Free
When William asked, Abigail froze, caught off guard. She stared at William’s serious expression in disbelief.
“Why would you ask that?” she asked, her tone laced with confusion.
She thought, “After all, William has never even met Marcus. Why does William dislike Marcus?”
William’s expression remained earnest. “Abigail, marriage is a lifetime commitment. As your family, I only want you to marry someone you truly love and be happy. Whether he’s wealthy or not, that’s secondary.”
No one had ever said such words to Abigail before. Listening to William’s gentle, thoughtful tone, she felt her heart warm as though it were steeped in hot water, gradually melting away her defenses.
William added, “A scumbag ever cheated on you before. That doesn’t mean you don’t deserve better. I don’t want you to rush into marriage out of spite.”
He gestured toward Abigail with a look of pride. “Sweetie, you’re beautiful, capable, and intelligent. You can easily find a husband. who cherishes and treats you like a treasure.”
William thought, “A rich old man is not worthy of you.”

As a father, William might not be the most eloquent man, but his heartfelt concern was evident in his repeated reassurances.
After Caroline and Felix’s affair became public, William had taken the time to research the details online.
He had learned how deeply Abigail once loved Felix, only to be betrayed, which led to her impulsive decision to marry a stranger. He wondered, “Could a flash marriage like that ever truly lead to happiness?”
Seeing William’s sincere yet hesitant gaze, Abigail’s heart stirred. Having grown up with James and Natalia’s facade of marriage, Abigail had never expected to have a sweet marriage.
Then she met Felix and thought he might be the one, entrusting him with her heart. But Felix only gave her suspicion and emotional distance.
Before her love completely became resentful, Felix cheated on her, and she left decisively.
Then she married a stranger.
Yeah, that was a hasty decision to get a flash marriage. She did that to save face and prove that she had moved on.
But after she married Marcus…
Marcus had treated her well since they married.

Abigail thought, “Despite his initial secrecy and deceit, he respected me and cared about me. He did many things to make me happy. I feel remarkably comfortable talking with him. If
you
ask me if I’m happy in my marriage, I’ve never thought about divorce.”
Still, she knew William and Adela’s concerns came from a place of genuine care.
After a moment’s silence, Abigail looked at them and spoke honestly, “Yes, I married on impulse, but my husband treats me well. I don’t have any plans to get a divorce right now.”
William frowned slightly.
He thought, “If Abigail’s husband treats her so well, why hasn’t he called Abigail when she didn’t go home in the evening? And how could he be absent during such a significant moment? His wife is reuniting with her biological family.”
William was sure his suspicions were right. Abigail wasn’t happy in her marriage, but she was putting on a brave face to keep them from worrying.
He thought, “Whatever it takes, I’m determined to help her break free from this burden of a marriage.”
Resolving himself, William didn’t press Abigail but gently said, “If he’s truly good to you, then we’ll keep observing. But if he ever dares mistreat you, don’t hesitate to divorce him. Don’t worry. We aren’t old–fashioned. Even if you get divorced, we’ll always have your back.”

Abigail’s eyes reddened, and she instinctively leaned forward to hug them. Her voice wavered with emotion. “Thank you, Mom
and Dad.”
It had been so long since she felt this deeply moved. Every moment spent with the Yannis family brought Abigail joy and warmth, such a stark contrast to the suffocating tension and calculated coldness of the Winchester family.
This was what real family felt like.
William and Adela were stunned by Abigail’s sudden embrace, but they quickly recovered and hugged her back tightly.
After dinner, it was late, and they worried about Abigail driving back to the city alone at night. They insisted she stay over.
But once the decision was made, they realized there wasn’t a spare room. Only Caroline’s old bedroom was vacant. Seeing their hesitation, Abigail offered, “It’s fine. I can stay in that
room.”
Adela still looked apologetic. “We should have thought of this before going to Claudia and prepared a clean room for you.”
“It’s fine,” Abigail reassured her with a warm smile. “Mom, it’s okay. This is my home. I’m not picky.”
Abigail’s words melted their concerns even further. They looked at Abigail with ever–growing affection.
