The first rays of sunlight crept through the window, lighting up the cold, sterile room. I woke with a start, the events of the night before still vivid in my mind. Damien. He hadn’t touched me, but his presence had felt like a storm that had passed through me, leaving everything in turmoil

I glanced at the empty side of the bed. Damien wasn’t there. The bed felt colder, emptier without him next to me. It wasn’t like I wanted him there, but the absence of his looming figure was unsettling. I quickly pulled myself out of bed and wrapped the blanket tighter around me, trying to shake off the unsettling feeling that lingered in my chest

What had happened last night? I couldn’t even remember the last time I had cried like that, begging him to let me go. He’d listenedbarelyand walked away. I had expected him to push me further, to take what he wanted. But he hadn’t. It felt wrong, but in some twisted way, a part of me was almost relieved

I slowly made my way to the bathroom, trying to ignore the heavy thoughts clouding my mind

Few minutes later and I was already done freshening up. Stepping out of the room, I took out of my phone, my eyes flickering to my bank app. I had gotten some sort of notification last night on it but I was too depressed to check it out. It was just a blurry image of words to me

Unlocking it, the message that greeted me was unmistakable

Transaction Declined

Cards Canceled

What?!

I blinked my eyes frantically, hoping it was all in my head but it wasn’t! My account, my cards, I had no access to any of them?!

My stomach twisted. I couldn’t believe it. I stormed down the stairs, anger bubbling up inside me with each step. Damien had canceled my cards. He’d done this

When I entered the living room, I found him sitting on the couch, his posture relaxed, as if nothing had happened. He was scrolling through something on his phone, looking perfectly at ease. The sight of him ignited something in me, and I marched toward him, my fists clenched by my sides

Damien!I snapped. My voice wavered, but I pushed through. What the hell did you do?”

He glanced up from his phone, not even the slightest hint of concern on his face. If anything, he seemed amused. Oh, you noticed, huh?His tone was mocking, as if my frustration was some kind of game to him

You had no right to do that!I could feel my blood boiling. What kind of person does that? You don’t control me!”

He didn’t react to my outburst. Instead, he just leaned back, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked me up and down. There was something about the way he looked at me that made my skin crawl

I do control you,he said, his voice low and cold. You’re my wife, Rosalie. Everything you do is under my watch, including where you spend your money.”

I took a step back, as if his words had physically slapped me. You don’t get to make those decisions. I’m not your property,I spat

Damien’s lips curled into a smirk. You are,he said simply, leaning forward now, his eyes fixed on me with a dangerous intensity. And you’ll learn that soon enough. I’ve given you everything. You think you can just go around doing whatever you please? Not anymore.”

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself, but it was impossible to ignore the way his words gnawed at me. This is insane,I whispered, more to myself than to him

Insane?Damien laughed, a cold, humorless sound. You think this is insane? Wait until you see what I can really do when I’m pissed off.”

I stood there, frozen, unsure of how to respond. My body was shaking with anger, but deep down, there was a sense of helplessness creeping in. He had the power, and he knew it

You really think you can control me like this?I asked, a bitter laugh escaping my lips. That I’ll just sit back and let you walk all over me?”

Damien’s gaze darkened, his lips pressed into a thin line. You don’t have a choice, Rosalie. I’m doing this because I care about you. You’ll understand that one day.”

Care? He was lying, I knew it. He was doing this because he wanted control. And I was just another pawn in his game

I felt my hands tremble, but I fought to keep my voice steady. I don’t need your care, Damien. I don’t need anything from you.”

His face hardened. Oh, but you do. And you’ll see. Eventually, you’ll see that you need me for everything. He stood up then, towering over me with his broad frame, and his words hit me like a hammer. You think you’re in control now, but you’ll learn what real control looks like.”

I backed away, not trusting myself to speak. His presence was suffocating, and every word he spoke felt like another chain around my neck

Without another word, he turned and walked out of the room, leaving me standing there, breathless, seething, and more terrified than ever
