His lips brushed against her ear, speaking as though he was a nightmare incarnate. “How could I let you go so easily? After you get our of prison, you should have run as far as you can and never let me see you again. However, now that I’ve set my sights on you. Mabel, there’s no escape for you.”
Having said that, Navier shot Yannick a glance before at the taxi driver.
Yannick nodded, indicating he understood Xavier’s intention.
Xavier immediately yanked Mabel, roughly shoving her into the car. He quickly climbed in himself. “Drive”

Throughout the journey, Mabel dared not speak much. She was seated next to a human iceberg, so she sat tightly against the

Ever since they entered the car, Xavier remained silent. His long, slender legs were crossed, left over right, as he lowered his emotionless gaze. Beneath the gold–rimmed glasses, a tumult of emotions was brewing in his eyes. Xavier was not as composed as he appeared on the surface.

He glanced at her with a half–smile. “Ms. Jennings?”
Mabel inhaled sharply, her lips trembling as she pleaded, “I beg you, please have mercy on me. Mr. Scott. If I’ve done something wrong. I’ll apologize to you. I’ll kneel and bow to you.”
