Chester, frightened, struggled continuously. Plus, he was small, making him even harder to catch tha loach.
“Chester, don’t be scared. You’re the strongest. It’s just a little puddle. You can handle it easily.”
Chester seemed to gain strength. He stopped flailing and instead tried to steady himself.
Hannah reached Chester’s side and held him up with both hands.
The lifeguard immediately caught Chester.
Hannah let out a breath of relief.
bitterness welled:
But a inside her.
She had believed she could remain completely indifferent, but the moment Chester fell into the water, terror seized her, nearly ripping her soul away. She hadn’t hesitated for even a second. Before she knew her body had already plunged in.
Thankfully, Chester was fine.
Watching the lifeguard perform a simple rescue, seeing Chester finally cry out loud, her tense body slow relaxed as she walked toward the shore.
Hearing the cries, Rebecca pushed through the crowd. When she saw Chester lying on the ground, she rushed over and scooped him into her arms.
“Oh, Chester, you nearly gave me a heart attack!”
Chester’s teeth chattered from the cold.
But his eyes darted around as if searching for someone
Christian arrived at the commotion too. Seeing the situation, he immediately instructed his assistant to bring a blanket to wrap Chester up.
Rebecca burst into tears.
“Oh, my poor Chester, you’re just a kid. Who could have pushed you into the lake? It’s breaking my heart!”
Her words carried a hidden accusation, and the crowd began to defend themselves, voices rising in argument.
No one noticed there was still someone in the water.
However, Hannali didn’t mind. After all, she was used to being overlooked.
But the next moment, a rescue pole dropped in front her
Mommy, grab on! Daddy and I will pull you up!”
Ethan’s voice was full of urgency, his little lace flushed! ed.

Beside him. Hudson helped him hold the pole and called out loudly. “The water isn’t deep, but it’s slippery. Hold on tight.”
Hannah didn’t know why.
But at that moment, the sunlight seemed especially bright.
The clouds looked extra soft.
Something warm filled her heart.
Tears poured down her face.
As she gripped the rescue pole, forgotten memories suddenly flashed through her mind.

And through her hands, this pole seemed to pull up ne just her body, but also the lonely, forsaken girl:
once was.
Soon, Hannah was on shore, her clothes soaked through. A breeze swept past, and she shivered.
Hudson’s coat wrapped around her shoulders.
A crisp, clean scent surrounded her.

She hesitated, unsure where to place her hands, not even daring to touch the coat.
After becoming a full–time wife, she had been the one taking care of Christian’s clothes.
Once, when Chester was sick, she had been exhausted and accidentally burned one of Christian’s shirts while ironing.
Christian had erupted in fury, calling her useless in every way.
Later, she found out that Rebecca had bought that shirt and Christian had treasured it.
Even though he later apologized, the incident left a show in her heart.
Hudson’s gaze was deep, his tall figure standing like a pine tree.
He looked at her without a trace of displeasure.
Even though his coat was now wet and dirty.
“You’re a woman. It’s more inconvenient for you. Just wear it. You don’t need to pay me back, so don’t worry:
Hannah was briefly stunned.
She was soaked through, her clothes clinging to her boy. Though it wasn’t a feudal society, people’s malice was often unpredictable. It was always better toe cautious.
She never would have expected someone as stole as H Ison to be so considerate.
“Mr. Whiunore, I truly appreciate this. I’ll make sure to wash the coat and return it to you.

Hudson’s face remained expressionless. He simply nodded, signaling that there was no need for such formality.
Hannah was deeply worried about Chester, so she did say more. She immediately bent down and too Ethan’s hand.
“Ethan, can you come with me to check on Chester?”
Ethan showed no displeasure; instead, he nodded seriously and said, “Mommy, let’s hurry. He definitely wants you to hold him.”
Warmth spread through Hannah’s heart.
But in the next moment, Ethan tugged on Hudson’s hard as well.
“Daddy, the teacher said a family is a team. You can’t be left out.
For the first time, a faint smile appeared on Hudson’s face.
“I would never be a deserter,”
Ethan grinned. “Then you must be… well, a great generall
Hudson helped them push through the crowd, oddly feeling that the description was quite fitting.
He had intended to say something, but when he caught sight of the child and Hannah’s suddenly pale face his brows furrowed, and he turned his
gaze forward.
Chester was already in Rebecca’s arms. At first, he had been crying in panic, but after some comforting, hi sobs had gradually quieted.
“Chester…”
Hannah hurried forward.
But the moment Rebecca heard her voice, she turned to her with a furious expression.
“Hannah, haven’t you had enough? Chester is just a child!”
