Chapter 3
The next morning, Glen eagerly sent me a private message asking how to get all the
assets.
“I know it’s not ethical, but my wife is just so lazy and useless.”
“I’ve done enough for her after all these years!”
Glen claimed that since their marriage, his wife had never worked, and he’d been the one supporting her. He also mentioned the doctor’s diagnosis: She could never have children.
“If you can help me get her out of the picture, I’ll give you 5% of the consultation fee.”

5% was no small amount.
“You said your wife has health issues, right? You’re rushing things. The judge is unlikely to grant her a full settlement.”
Glen ran a small building materials store.
On the third day of our marriage, he insisted on buying some stock from a supplier. He was drunk then. When the goods arrived, the supplier had nowhere to store them and pushed us to pick them up.
I drove to help Glen with it. But midway, the cargo exploded, causing a serious car accident. Though I survived, I was severely injured, and my internal organs and eyesight were damaged. I was no longer able to get pregnant.
The accident led to a compensation of over

a million for the other driver, and coulddino longer work. Glen, feeling guilty, promissed to take responsibility for me, to careformee forever.
He closed his store, went to work to pay offf the debts, while I did some freelance work too help.
Our financial situation didn’t improve untilil passed the legal qualification exam, becamee a marriage consultant and eventually became the top online consultant.
For him, even though I suffered irreversible damage and couldn’t work, I felt it was worth it only if our life was getting better. After all, our relationship had finally blossomed after six years of dating.
But now, my efforts were being twisted into me being lazy and unwilling to work.

“The law is so unfair!” Glen grumbled, “They shouldn’t favor her just because she’s the weaker party!”
“Is there any way you can make her walk away with nothing? I don’t want her to take any of the money I earned.”
“If you can make that happen, I’ll bump your cut to 10%.”
He was willing to give money to a stranger, but not to his wife–who had even been left
disabled because of him.
It was a real eye–opener.
I sneered inwardly but kept a kind expression.
“I do have a way. If she commits an

irreversible mistake in the marriage and causes you severe emotional harm, you can submit a mental injury assessment. The judge might award you most of the assets. Then you can work out ways to transfer key part of the rest assets before divorce. It’ll be almost the same as throwing her out.”
After hearing my advice, Glen invited me out for drinks that night.
Coincidentally, it was our wedding anniversary.
We had never celebrated our anniversary before, due to his busy work and the debt we were repaying.
Now that things had improved, it seemed like a good reason to celebrate.
“Happy third anniversary, honey.”

Glen bought a cake and handed me a room card, a slight flush on his face.
He kissed my forehead.
“We’ve been together for so long and never had a getaway”
“Let’s go out for dinner tonight, then stay in a hotel overnight.”
“I’ll do anything you want.”
His words carried a deep meaning, and any adult would know what he meant.
But sadly, this morning, I overheard him conspiring with his mistress.
They were planning to get me drunk, find a man to sleep with me, and then catch

me in the act, using the video as evidence of my infidelity to take to court and claim emotional damages.
Their goal was to throw me out of the house.
But sorry, I wasn’t that naive.
