Chapter4
That night, Marta messaged me: “It’s been a while, why hasn’t the jerk made a move yet?”
I lay in bed, glanced at Irvin who was on his phone, and smiled.
I quickly replied: “Don’t worry, by tonight, he’ll add you on Twitter.”
Just as I expected, the next morning, I received a message from Marta: “It’s done”
However, Quinn heard about my pregnancy and seemed to be getting anxious.
She somehow found my contact information and invited me to lunch.
I agreed, but I never expected her to pick this

particular restaurant.
Back when Irvin was poor, we occasionally splurged here, though most of the time, I paid.
I remembered him vowing that once we had money, he would take me here more often.
Yes, he did take someone here–but it wasn’t me; it was another woman.
Quinn, young and beautiful, wore a white dress and carried a designer bag. She sat across from me.
“You’re Bertha? You’ve really aged.” She flicked her hair dismissively.
I didn’t respond, just calmly took a sip of my coffee, eyeing her bag. “Nice bag.”

Quinn proudly swung it around. “Right? My husband bought it for me.”
I put down my cup and smiled, “I haven’t finished speaking. The bag’s nice, but it’s fake.”
Sure enough, Irvin really hadn’t changed a bit.
After I found out about him transferring assets, I had planned to sell the bags and jewelry he had given me over the years to raise money.
I didn’t expect the sly bastard had only bought fake items!
So many years, and the gifts were fake–just like the affection he feigned.
He used his charm to fool two women.

Quinn froze for a moment, flustered, and quickly set the bag down.
She cleared her throat. “I heard… you’re pregnant?”
I nodded. “Yes. Is there a problem?”
Quinn, flustered, slammed her hand on the table. “I’m telling you, I’m Irvin’s true love. He’s promised to marry me. You’d better abort that child and get out of our lives!”
Her words made me laugh.
So naive, just like a fresh–out–of–college girl. Irvin had tricked her into believing everything with just words.
“Are all mistresses this bold now?” I asked.

Quinn was stunned, lowering her hands. “In the end, it’s always the one who’s not loved who’s the mistress. You should divorce him. Irvin doesn’t love you anymore.”
I put down my cup and looked out the window, feeling a wave of nausea rise within me, nearly making me vomit at the sight of the food.
I took a deep breath. “No matter what I say, it won’t matter. But you’ll see for yourself what your so–called ‘true love‘ really looks like.”
No sooner had I spoken than Irvin appeared in front of us, hands on his hips.
When he saw Quinn, his expression changed immediately.
After a warning glance at Quinn, he turned to me. “Honey, I’m here to pick you up.”

I smiled and stood up, grabbing my bag. Looking at Quinn, I said, “You have a cousin like this, and you never told me? When she came to find me today, I was curious.”
I couldn’t let Irvin know I knew about his affair just yet. I already had all the evidence I needed.
Irvin, hearing this, seemed to relax. “I’ve been busy with work. I just haven’t had the time to mention it.”
Then, he turned to Quinn and scolded her. “What’s the matter with you? Why come find my wife? Come find me if you need something.”
Quinn swallowed hard and looked at me with resentment. “I just wanted to meet my cousin. I was curious!”

I watched them both, satisfied. Tonight, it seemed my foolish husband wouldn’t be coming home.
Irvin paid the bill in front of Quinn and took
me away.
Before we left, I casually mentioned that my wedding ring had gone missing. Irvin immediately promised to bring me back an even bigger diamond ring tomorrow.
Quinn looked like she was about to explode.
But as far as I was concerned, mistresses never end well.
If she still couldn’t see the true nature of this man, she was only destined to follow in my footsteps.
