Chapter 3
His face, which had been carefully composed, briefly showed a moment of surprise when he heard me, as if he didn’t expect that I’d see through his facade so easily.
But that fleeting emotion quickly
disappeared, drowned by a calm “Mm” from
him.
At the hospital, the doctor conducted some basic checks. “Mm, it’s just menstrual cramps. The young lady suffers low energy and vitality, so she’s feeling more pain. Nothing serious. Just get plenty of rest and take good care of herself.”
“Menstrual cramps?” Mason Grant
murmured.

The doctor chuckled, teasing, “Such a big guy, and yet, as a boyfriend, you should definitely remember the dates when your girlfriend is dealing with cramps. Those are some of the most important days!”
Mason Grant nodded awkwardly, “You’re right. I’ll make sure to remember.”
The gray–bearded doctor smiled as he scribbled down some instructions on a sheet of paper. “Heh, young man, there’s so much for you to remember. Do you know what to do for menstrual cramps?”
Without thinking, Mason blurted out, “Apply a heat compress, drink plenty of hot water, take medicine.”
The doctor paused, a bit surprised. “Hmm, looks like you know quite a bit about this.”

I could almost see the confusion on Mason Grant’s face, as if he wasn’t sure why he knew so much about these things either.
“It’s nothing serious. Just take good care of her during those special days. Once she’s better, take her home,” the doctor added.
After listening to the doctor’s instructions, Mason Grant left the room, while I sat there, momentarily stunned, on the chair.
Applying a heat compress,, drinking hot water, taking medicine.
Such familiar words.
When I was with Luca Bennett, I had to go to the hospital several times in the middle of the night because of cramps.

I had taken countless doses of medicine, but none of them really worked.
Every time he saw me in tears from the bitter taste of the medicine, he would hug me, heartbroken.
Eventually, he started researching ways to help, personally making me remedies after work.
Gradually, my cramps started to ease.
Many months later, I suddenly asked him, “Luca, do you still remember what to do when I’m in pain?”
“Apply a heat compress, drink hot water, take medicine, silly. I’ll never forget that.”
He truly never forgot.

But that kind of special care no longer belonged to me.
Maybe it was because I’d only slept for a few hours, but my eyes felt unusually sore and tired.
I rubbed my eyes, trying to ease the discomfort, but for some reason, my vision started to blur more.
My body trembled slightly, tears flooding out like shattered pearls, falling onto the back of my hand, impossible to control. It felt as though the whole world was crumbling in silence.
I helplessly grasped the sleeve, as if holding onto the last bit of support, but the tears relentlessly broke down my final mental defenses, and the calm I had fought so hard to maintain felt so fragile in the silence.

So helpless.
Before I knew it, the sky was already bright.
When I woke up, Mason Grant was feeding Mina some porridge.
I rubbed my reddened eyes and heard her ask, “Hannah, did we wake you?”
I shook my head.
“It’s my fault, I got so busy I forgot to take my medicine. Thanks to Mason Grant though.”
She blinked her eyes playfully, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. “But hey~ how do you know so much about dealing with menstrual cramps? Did you have

someone before me~ talk!”
She sat on the bed, hands on her hips, tapping Mason Grant’s chest with her fingers.
Seeing the girl in front of him still so lively, teasing him, Mason Grant’s furrowed brows finally relaxed. He gently took Mina’s mischievous hand and chuckled.
“There was no one before you. My heart and my eyes have always been on you. Don’t you know that by now?”
“Well, that’s better.”
On the way back, Mina sat beside me.
“Hannah, sorry about that. I mentioned to Mason Grant yesterday that you live nearby, and he came looking for your help last night.

Did I disturb your rest?”
I gave a sheepish smile in response.
“No, it’s fine. I couldn’t sleep, so getting out for a walk was actually good.”
Hearing my answer, she warmly hugged me, resting her head on my shoulder.
“Hannah, you’re the best!”
After that day, Mina started coming to see me more often.
Our bond grew stronger with each visit.
After spending more time together, I realized that Mina’s personality reminded me of my younger self. A few years ago, I was full of hope, outgoing, and surrounded by friends.

We also shared similar tastes. For example, we both loved fruit, disliked cilantro, and didn’t enjoy creme brûlée in our bubble tea.
