“Didn’t I already write it? The divorce agreement.”
“Do you really want to get a divorce?”
“Yes,”
Asher probably saw that I was serious.
If he hadn’t given in now, all these years of careful planning would have gone to waste. He immediately softened and stopped speaking so firmly.
“Liliana, what’s been going on with you lately? Ever since we came back from the beach, you’ve been acting strange. If there’s something bothering you, just tell me. Don’t worry. I’ll
always stand by your side.”
Seeing him act so heartfelt almost made me gag.
“Just sign it! If you wait too long, you won’t get anything.”
Asher tried to say something more, but I made a quick call to the property management.
He left in defeat.
At lunchtime, Eleanor walked into my office.
She hooked her arm around mine and said with a smile, “Liliana, I heard you’re getting a
divorce from Mr. Farley?”
Her voice was so loud that the office door was wide open, and the staff outside heard
everything clearly.
“Yeah, it’s my personal matter.”
Implying that it wasn’t any of her business.
“Mr. Farley is a good guy. You shouldn’t be fighting because of me.”
“It’s not because of you. I’ve wanted a divorce for a long time.”
With that, I turned around to pick up a document. “This is the kickback you’ve been taking for
the projects you’ve worked on this year.”
Eleanor’s face changed immediately. She picked up the paper and saw the numbers. The
amount was enough to keep her in jail for the rest of her life.
- me.
“Liliana, is this really how you want to do things?”
Eleanor looked at me, heartbroken. “After all these years, you’re going to treat me like this?”
This woman had no shame. She always tried to use our supposed friendship to manipulate
When I came back to the country, she had just graduated.
She talked about how we hadn’t seen each other since high school, reminiscing about old times.
Then she followed me everywhere, and eventually, with her hints,
I begged my dad to get her into our company. Otherwise, with her qualifications and
abilities, she wouldn’t even have passed the interview.
Back when my dad was still alive, her skills were nothing special.

But once Asher rose to power, she started to emerge as well, and several major projects landed in her lap.
“Stop pretending! Go hire a lawyer.”
But with the amount she’s involved with, hiring a lawyer wouldn’t help much.
“Mr. Farley is right. You’ve changed. After ten years, you just throw it all away like it means
nothing.”
If I hadn’t been reborn, I might have naively helped her.
Now that I’ve experienced my past life, I know that they had teamed up to drag me down.
At this point, I wouldn’t mind if she spent the rest of her life in prison.
“You’ve been fired, so go find a lawyer!”
Seeing I wasn’t moved, she stopped pretending to be pitiful.
“Liliana, I’ve been like a dog to you all these years, and this is how you repay me? With the
kind of salary you pay at your company, it’s not enough to live on. What’s wrong with taking a
little kickback?”
There were actually people so shameless, believing it was only natural to take kickbacks.
Eleanor’s salary wasn’t low, but she liked luxury items. Only that way did she feel she had
money.
I didn’t want to waste any more time with her, so I had my secretary call security to escort
her out.
After work, I got in the car to head home.
The driver seemed uneasy. “Miss, there’s something wrong with the car.”
“What do you mean?”
“The brakes are malfunctioning. It won’t slow down. And the car keeps speeding up.
My face turned pale. In front of us was the Rivermist Way.
