I don’t want my biased parents
anymore.
Chapter 1
My sister, Mandy, crashed my wedding,
bawling about how she was dying and
begging my fiancé to spend her last days with
her.
To stop Jake from leaving, I pulled the most
melodramatic stunt ever and sliced my wrist
with a broken champagne flute to guilt trip
him into staying.
Later, Mandy left a note and vanished.
My whole family turned on me.
My brother, Mark, started a full–blown online
hate campaign, calling me the reason Mandy
く
Jake gave me the silent treatment, trying to
bully me into a divorce.
My parents announced they were cutting me
out of their lives completely.
I ended up with severe depression.
I died at twenty–six.
Then I woke up, back at my wedding.
This time, I don’t give a rat’s behind about
family or love.

“The doctor says I’m kicking the bucket soon.
Will you spend my last moments with me?”
the cuut
く
The words hit me like a punch to the gut.
I was actually reliving this nightmare!
This time, I just watched Jake stroll towards
my sweet little sister, Mandy.
They locked hands.
Jake looked back at me, his eyes full of that
fake, puppy–dog guilt, “I’m sorry, Brooke, but
I think I love Mandy more. During her
remaining time, I want to be by her side till
the end.”
Last time, to stop him from leaving
—
and to
avoid becoming a laughingstock — I’d
shattered a glass and threatened to off
myself with the shards if he left me at the
altar.
L
His family and mine pressured him into
staying.
After the wedding, Mandy dipped out and left
a “goodbye” note.
Which led to everyone hating me, and I ended
up suffering for years before my demise.
I
The horrible memories flooded back, and I
wanted to send those backstabbing losers,
and my so–called family, straight to hell.
Smack!
Jake’s mom slapped Mandy across the face,
yelling, “I have never seen such a brazen
woman. This is your sister’s wedding, and you
come barging in here with this garbage, using
some fake excuse to take away my son, huh?
Are you trying to ruin my family’s reputation?”
Jake immediately pulled Mandy into a
protective hug, acting like he’d let his mom
beat him black and blue.
His mom was furious, but she couldn’t bring
herself to lay a finger on her precious boy.
Just as she was about to turn her rage back
on Mandy, my family piped up, stepping up to
the plate.
“Mandy’s not usually this out of line. Let’s all
take a breath and hear what she has to
say…”
“I don’t care! Whatever’s going on, she
doesn’t get to wreck my son’s wedding today.
L
I think she has a death wish!”
With that, Jake’s mom reached out to grab
Mandy.
In the chaos, someone
–
whoops pushed
Jake’s mom, and she went down like a ton of
bricks, tumbling backward over the steps.
“Mom!”
Jake rushed over and helped his mom up. She
was bleeding from a nasty gash on her
forehead.
Before she could even string together a
sentence, she passed out.
Jake scooped her up and bolted for the
hospital.
L
I stood there, watching the whole train wreck
unfold.
Last time, I was too terrified of Jake and Mandy leaving, so I broke the glass and
threatened suicide to keep Jake by my side.
That’s when his mom finally took my side.
This time, I didn’t do anything, and things
were already headed down a different path.
“Brooke, are you deaf or blind? Things are a
total disaster, and you’re standing around like
you don’t have a care in the world! Are you
made of stone?”
My mom whirled around and started grilling
- me.
L
I snapped back without even thinking, “Are
you out of your mind? Mandy crashed my
wedding, and she’s the one who sent Jake’s
mom sprawling! She ruined my wedding, but
you come running to me and asking me
what’s wrong?”
My mom was stunned.
I’d never been so rude to her before.
My dad glared at me, “How can you talk to
your mother like that? Do you have any
manners at all?”
“Nope. Guess I have my parents to thank for
that. Like father, like daughter.”
I didn’t hold back with him either.
