Chapter 5
Where I couldn’t see, Pete jumped in the
water.
Before the police got there, the boat
exploded.

Susie May’s clothes were stuck to her burned
skin.
“Mom, Dad…it hurts so bad…”
Susie May reached for Sean and my parents.
But they didn’t rush over.
They were just looking at the rescue team.
Susie May couldn’t stop crying.
Sean, who had been so sweet to her, just
stared at her wounds.
“I killed my own sister!”
“I killed my own sister for someone who isn’t
even related to us!”
Sean’s good feelings for Susie May
disappeared, and he started to go back to
normal.
Sean grabbed Susie May by the neck and
threw her to the ground.
They only meant to fake the amnesia to save Susie May’s life.
“Die! You should die too!”
“Ashley died because of you!”
Susie May’s face was red.
She called out to the system inside her head.

There was only silence.
“They found her!”
The rescue team showed up.
Sean threw Susie May aside.
Pete jumped in to find me.
He came back holding my body.
My parents fainted.
Sean reached for my body.
Pete pushed him away.
“Get away from ber!”
“Didn’t you choose Susie May? Didn’t you kill
Ashley?”
Pete got a text.
It was the video again.
But this time, it was Susie May with Jeremiah.
Pete had gotten the video before the whole amnesia thing.
He was so angry.
He never checked if the video was real.
“Poor Ashley, no one was on her side.”
Pete looked at another text.

He lost all his strength.
He fell on the ground with my body.
No one could get Pete to let go.
“Ashley! Oh, Ashley!”
Pete screamed. He even coughed up blood.
Then, he passed out.
“How’s it look?”
Jeremiah leaned in close.
He looked at my phone.
He put a towel on my shoulders.

“Where did you get that video?”
I asked carefully, but I was nervous.
The video seemed real.
I looked over at Susie May, and heard the words in my head.
I stared at a picture in the corner.
It was Jeremiah and a younger Susie May.
I started to sweat.
I tried to stand up, but I was weak.
Jeremiah must’ve seen me.
He touched Susie May’s face in the picture.
“She’s not Susie May. I don’t know where my
Susie May went.”
“But that’s not Susie May in this world
anymore.”
