Calvin’s face turned red with anger. “But… but you still shouldn’t have hit her!”
“And why shouldn’t I? She’s a homewrecker! She seduced you and turned my life upside down. Why shouldn’t I hit her? If she were standing here right now, I’d slap her again!”
As I spoke, I grabbed onto Wiley and his wife, crying my heart out.
Wiley gave Calvin a severe scolding, so harsh that Calvin couldn’t even lift his head. But
despite everything, he still insisted on divorcing me.
Wiley sighed helplessly and warned him, “Don’t come crying when you regret this.”
Calvin puffed out his chest. “I won’t regret it!”
I certainly had no regrets. I couldn’t wait to be rid of him.
By the time we got home, it was already midnight. I packed up my things and kicked him out
of our bedroom.
“First thing tomorrow morning, we’re getting divorced!”
“Fine! I can’t wait for it.” He still had the nerve to talk back. I ignored him and started gathering anything of value in the house.
We had built this home together, but after the divorce, I wasn’t going to leave anything
behind for him.
I gathered everything I could sell, staying up late into the night.
The next morning, I dragged him to the civil office, and we finalized the divorce. Calvin went back to his military training.
I returned home, sold off what needed selling, and sent off what needed sending.
With an extra 300 dollars in my hand, I bought groceries and meat, then took my luggage
and sat at Jonathan’s doorstep.
At noon, Jonathan came home and was stunned to see me. “What are you doing here?”
“Waiting for you to marry me.”
“What?”
“I said, I’m waiting for you to marry me. Look, this is everything I own. Jonathan, I’m serious!
Just tell me. Yes or no? If you don’t want me, I’ll find someone else!”
Jonathan clenched his jaw. “Wait right here!”
He stormed into his house, carried all my luggage inside, and shoved an envelope into my hands. “These are all I had. Now, it’s yours.”
It took me a second to realize he was giving me control of the household. I grinned and urged him to get the paperwork started. Jonathan bought a bottle of liquor and went to Wiley’s house.
Wiley was just as shocked. Seeing me there too, he immediately asked, “Rebekah, did you divorce Calvin because of him?”
I hurried to explain, “Of course not! Mr. Myers, I’ve thought this through. Jonathan is a goo
man. He takes care of me, so why wouldn’t I choose him?
Besides, he doesn’t mind that I’m divorced. What more could I ask for?”
aproved the request right away Jonathan

I hurried to explain, “Of course not! Mr. Myers, I’ve thought this through. Jonathan is a good man. He takes care of me, so why wouldn’t I choose him?
Besides, he doesn’t mind that I’m divorced. What more could I ask for?”
Wiley pondered for a moment and nodded. He approved the request right away. Jonathan took the afternoon off, and together we went to register our marriage. After that, he dragged me to the department store, buying me new clothes and even a watch.
He even wanted to get me a bicycle. If I hadn’t stopped him, he probably would’ve bought
out the whole store!
“Is that really necessary? Money doesn’t grow on trees!”
“Of course, it is. My life belongs to you. Whatever you want, I’ll get it for you!”
Happiness welled up in my heart. “A wedding is a big deal. Let’s invite everyone in the
battalion over for a meal.”
“That means extra work for you. Cook a few more dishes.”
“No problem. Have them over tonight.”
I also bought twenty pounds of sugar, handing it out to neighbors as we walked home. Everyone in the neighborhood was stunned to see me with Jonathan.
“Rebekah, what’s going on?”
“I divorced Calvin and married Jonathan. Come celebrate with us tonight!”
The moment I said that, everyone was left completely speechless!
