Then, Mark was named the heir to the
Hamilton fortune, and we began to drift apart.
After graduating, I originally wanted to leave
the family.
But Mark suddenly started begging me to
stay, saying he loved me.
His autism was even showing signs of
returning.
The Hamiltons all blamed me and thought
that I had deceived Mark.
But they couldn’t watch Mark revert back to
his old ways and had to give in.
However, before we married, the family had
me sign a prenuptial agreement.
That even if I were to marry Mark, I could not
own any shares to Hamilton Enterprises, I had
no power within the company, and in the
event of a divorce I could not take anything
from him.
I originally hesitated to sign the papers, but
after seeing Mark’s tears, I gave in and
signed the document.
We got the marriage certificate, but didn’t
have a wedding.
The Hamiltons looked down on me because I
had nothing to offer Mark.
<
And then Mark swore to me.
“Alex, we aren’t strong enough to be together
yet.”
“When I inherit Hamilton Enterprises, we will
have a grand wedding and announce our
love.”
I smiled in his arms, anticipating our future.
Because of this promise, I studied extremely
hard to be worthy of him.
I watched him climb up the ranks and we both
turned out to be outstanding adults.
The Hamiltons loosened up and said we could
finally have the wedding and start our lives.
く
That was when Tiffany appeared.
In just a few months, she took a big part of
Mark’s heart.
It was already too late by the time I realized
this.
Tiffany was young and beautiful, and was a
breath of fresh air for Mark. And he always
smiled when she was around.
But I had been seasoned by society, I had
grown more mature and no longer had the
same passion I used to.
We spent less and less time together, and
most of the time we would only talk about
work.
His eyes became cold and they no longer had
that burning passion from the past.
Even when I got a few days off, I couldn’t
even get him to work on the relationship.
We were drifting further and further away.
I thought that our marriage would soon end,
but Mark suddenly wanted to have a wedding.
He said he hadn’t forgotten the promise and
that nobody could stop us now.
I believed him and thought that he and Tiffany
were just for show.
After all, we had been together for so long
and our relationship couldn’t be broken easily.
く
Until Tiffany sent me the chat logs between
the two. Mark had called me this:
[Alex, is just a dog the Hamiltons brought up
for me. She is nothing without me.]
[Don’t worry, I like you the most. But Alex
needs to be calmed down too.]
[Wow, you’re even pregnant. What are you
worried about?]
Tiffany also sent me photos of her pregnancy
report and sex photos.
He was the one who asked for us to be
together until the wedding day. He said he
didn’t want kids because he was too young
and he wanted to respect me.
く
I believed him and the most extreme thing
that happened between us was kissing.
Looking at the messages from Tiffany, I was
over it.
Maybe over the years, he had become used
to having me and thought he could control
- me.
Maybe this marriage was a mistake from the
start.
But it wasn’t too late now.
I found a hotel and rested for the night, and
thought about how to divorce him.
But I was woken up by Mark’s calls.
When I answered, he yelled at me.
“Alex, where are you?! We had an agreement.
I’m not letting you ruin the Hamilton family’s
reputation!”
“I’m telling you that there are guests already
waiting. Fix yourself and come back or I will
take action!”
I quietly heard him and laughed.
When did our wedding turn into something
else?
Tiffany and Mark planned the wedding, and
the purpose was to climb the ranks with the
attendees.
It was pure profit and had lost its original
meaning.
I said disappointedly, “I told you I want a
divorce. It’s all your fault.”
“If you want to be embarrassed, go ahead.”
He didn’t think that I would reject and said, “If
you don’t come I will take action.”
Take action? I laughed.
“This is a legal country, and I can call the
police. Feel free to be embarrassed.”
“Alex…”
I hung up the phone before he finished.
And then I quickly cleaned myself up and
waited at a coffee shop near the police
station.
A few minutes later, Mark sent people after
- me.
But because I was next to the police station
and I was ready to call 911, they couldn’t
make a move.
A lot of people were watching this wedding
because it was being live–streamed.
The owner of the coffee shop was also
following the news and playing it on the TV.
The agreed time was almost up, and even
though I was at the coffee shop, the wedding
was continuing.
<
The bride wasn’t me, but a woman in a mask.
I recognized Tiffany.
Someone had the idea to just have her wear a
mask.
The ceremony was continuing, but the
attendees who knew me were mumbling to
each other and didn’t look happy.
When they saw the new bride, my partners
were furious.
Mark and Tiffany were embarrassed but kept
going.
“The ceremony is over, and the groom may
kiss the bride.”
