- 7.
Time flew, and three years passed.
My grandmother and I worked on medicine
for viruses and the flu, and helped the
government.
My grandmother changed her mind about the
village.
She let people come and go as they pleased.
I didn’t know I’d see Mark again.
He came to the village to get medicine.
He saw me in the shop, helping patients.
His eyes teared up, and he dropped
everything and ran to me.
He held me tight.
He was always stressed now.
“I finally found you. Three years, all over the
world.”
Mark choked on his tears.
He held me tight, so I wouldn’t disappear.
<
I pushed him away and he fell.
If anyone else had done that, he would’ve
broken their hands.
“Did I hurt you?” Mark asked.
“Mark, we’re over, don’t touch me.”
Mark shook his head. “I can’t, I can’t forget
you, do what you want with me, but don’t
leave me.”
He kissed me, and I slapped him.
“I don’t do cheaters, I don’t need the side
chick.”
“I had Brittany get an abortion, I won’t make
τnat mistake again. ̈
I pulled my hand away and said, “I don’t love
you, believe it or not, you’re not in my future.”
Mark was crushed, and he cried.
“You’re lying, you can’t let me go.”
“Look me in the eyes, and say that you don’t
love me.”
Mark grabbed my arm.
I looked him in the eyes.
“I don’t love you.”
“Can you let go of me now?”
Mark let go, tears running down his face.
“When you left, I almost died. Everywhere I
go, you have to be with me. I saw your name
with the doctors, and I had to come to you.”
“Honey, I’ll give you time.”
Mark wiped his eyes and ran out, almost
falling.
