Chapter 11
The secretary hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, as if preparing to face death.
“You, sir. You’ve said more than once that Miss Anna was an eyesore. If it weren’t for the life–exchange ritual requiring her to stay with her birth mother to stabilize the soul, you would have thrown her out long ago.”
Victor was momentarily speechless.N
A flood of emotions surged within him. Had he really been such a bastard?
Seeing that his boss wasn’t responding, the secretary gathered his courage and continued his report.
“We’ve already investigated Miss Lena. There’s been no significant financial movement on her end. It’s unlikely to be her.”
“As for you, Mr. Ford… The team speculates that Miss Anna might have left with them willingly.”
Victor shot to his feet, his emotions surging. “Impossible! How could Anna possibly leave with them? I’m still here. She said she wanted to spend her life with me! And what about her daughter? Would she just abandon the child she risked her life to give birth to?“N
The secretary sighed and pulled up the surveillance footage from the garden, pressing play.
The recording played clearly, word for word, capturing everything Lena had said.
Her words were so cruel that even the investigative team couldn’t bear to listen a second time.
They didn’t just do a life–exchange, but transferred the soul into a dog, so the birth mother could watch her own child be beaten to death for revenge.N
The footage cut off at the moment Victor violently shoved Anna away.
On the screen, his face was filled with fury, while Anna’s was utterly lifeless, as if all hope had died.
For a moment, he felt the world spinning around him.N
How… how did he ever have the audacity to demand an apology from her?
And more than that, Anna knew about the life–exchange ritual.N
Victor collapsed into his chair, utterly drained.N
No wonder Anna didn’t want him anymore and didn’t even want their daughter.W
She knew. She knew that he was the one who had caused their daughter’s death.
After spending years by her side, Victor knew better than anyone that Anna would never forgive him.
He was a man who had never lost in the business world.N
He was a man who had even found a secret ritual to swap souls and save Lena’s terminally ill child.
Yet now, he had lost everything and found himself utterly helpless.
The secretary cautiously asked, “Mr. Ford, should we continue the search? Miss Anna knows about the soul–exchange ritual involving her daughter… I’m afraid she won’t come back.“W
Those words instantly jolted Victor awake. ‘That’s right. The soul exchange!‘
if he could retrieve Bella’s soul, Anna would come back.N
“Bring Lena and that bastard child to me!“M
Meanwhile, at the offshore base, everything was finally settled. A full month had passed.
The wounds on my body were just superficial and healed quickly.M
But inside, I felt a vast emptiness like a hollow space where the wind howled day and night.
During the day, I could distract myself by joking around with them, but at night, the void became painfully clear.
I was still thinking about my daughter.”
The captain, realizing the reason for my sorrow, sought out a renowned occult master for me.
After hearing my story, they all shook their heads. “This matter… Is most likely irreversible.“W
