Chapter 15
The two men silently excused themselves, leaving just Emma and me staring at
each other.
Logically, I should have felt guilty about being caught.
But my best friend was clearly worse at hiding things than I was.
I cleared my throat and sat up straight: “So. When did this happen?”
She stammered: “I just… I suddenly realized your brother isn’t so bad. He’s changed a lot. He doesn’t say mean things anymore–only sweet talk now.”
She was rambling nervously, “And he calls me ‘baby,‘ buys me whatever I want on AMEX Black, and his body is amazing. If I wasn’t already his wife, I’d totally be his side piece.”

Nathan reappeared just in time. I grabbed his hand and announced: “Your sister says you need to do her laundry for a year.”
He looked at Ryan with a judgmental eyebrow raise: “Seriously? What kind of man

doesn’t help wash his wife’s clothes?”
Ryan didn’t argue. Instead, he patiently kissed Emma’s cheek. “Baby, I’ll wash your laundry. I’ll even wash your lingerie by hand.” Nathan refused to be outdone, kissing me firmly on the lips.
“Alex, don’t worry. Your husband will wash every inch of you personally.”
