Chapter 8
Jasper has been staying at our company for the past few days.
This project will likely be successfully negotiated.
Running into him every day is truly irritating.

When I encounter him, I neither look at him nor speak to him.
However, my boss is just so annoying.
“From now on, you’ll be responsible for handling errands. related to coordinating with Jasper’s company.”
“Why me?”
“No particular reason, except that you broke up with his son, so he feels indebted to you and won’t give you a hard time.”
Me???
“Boss, you’re well aware of my relationship with his son. Aren’t you concerned it would be awkward for me to approach him?”
“Precisely because of that awkwardness, he’ll sign documents faster.”
My boss is quite skilled when it comes to getting signatures.

The boss created a work group chat with me, Jasper, and several colleagues responsible for coordination.
I tag Jasper in the group for everything.
“Mr. Knight, what would you like for lunch?”
“Mr. Knight, what would you like for dinner?”
“Mr. Knight, this document needs your signature.”
“Mr. Knight, the car is waiting outside.”
Jasper tagged me.
“Want to add me on WeChat?”
The boss replied:
“Just the two of you adding each other separately, sending messages in the group all day, it’s driving everyone crazy.”
Me?
Having no other option, I had to add Jasper privately.
His profile picture was an antique teacup.
That’s definitely a typical old man style profile picture.

No content whatsoever in his Moments.

Saying he’s 40 is underestimating his age–he must be at least
- 80.
An elderly person.
Hmph.
I changed his contact name to “Older than my grandpa.”
When Chloe saw this, she laughed so hard she got a stitch.
Honestly, I think Jasper looks younger than my brother.
“How old is your brother?”
“18.”
“Huh?”
He’s so sleazy, always lecturing his girlfriend. As soon as he gets home, he just lies around, either playing games or eating takeout, exuding this elderly person aura.
“Unlike Jasper, who’s either flying somewhere or attending meetings every day, like a perpetual motion machine.”
Well, I have to admit she’s right about that.
Jasper’s role as CEO makes me, a 21–year–old college student, feel like being CEO for one day would require a month of

recovery.

No, what am I doing?
Someone earning 3,000 a month shouldn’t sympathize with a capitalist!
Jasper chatted with me about work–related matters, then asked me a random question.
“Is your roommate asleep?”
“Huh? Not yet, she’s reading your messages with me right now.”
He stopped replying to me after that.
