Chapter 9
1/4
During a hot spring business gathering on the mountaintop, a group of people were urging the boss and Jasper to drink.
The boss was cunning, talking a lot but drinking very little.
Jasper spoke little but drank a lot.
Everyone present had lost some control from drinking. After consuming too much alcohol, one company executive began acting wildly and demanded I drink with him.
What kind of person am I anyway?
I’m not some beauty in a pencil skirt.
I just do menial tasks every day and dress like a maintenance
worker.
He must be completely out of his mind.
Besides, I know exactly how I behave after drinking, so I absolutely refused.
The boss told me to drink just a little, explaining that the executive always gets like this when drunk. If I didn’t join him, he would keep pestering me.
I reluctantly picked up the glass.

However, Jasper took the glass away from me.
“Young ladies don’t drink. Bureau Chief Wang, I’ll drink with you instead.”
“What’s this about, Mr. Knight? Why are you drinking for someone else?”
“I can drink for others, but you’ll have to have two glasses yourself.”
“Deal.”
I watched as Jasper downed two glasses, his face growing increasingly pale.
I shouldn’t have been worried about him.
Yel, more and more people came looking to drink with me.
And he stepped in to block drinks for me with increasing frequency
Between drinks, he leaned over to me, perhaps genuinely tipsy, misjudging the distance and coming very close.
His hot breath fell on my cheek.
“Could you buy me a box of sobering medicine?”
In that moment, my heart raced and my head buzzed.

“Of course, Mr. Knight. That’ll be 25 yuan.”
As soon as I said it, I could have kicked myself.
No matter how angry I was with him, I shouldn’t have mentioned money.
He was blocking drinks for me.

But my mouth moved faster than my brain, and the words had already escaped.
He didn’t get angry, just responded in a gentle tone.
“Alright, go ahead.”
He was definitely drunk. When calling me over, he actually reached out and patted my head.
As if suddenly remembering something, he quickly withdrew his hand.
I walked away with quick, rhythmic steps that went “thump, thump, thump,” running toward the exit.
My heart was also going “thump, thump, thump.”
As I entered the elevator, I received a message from someone named “Ancient One.”
Alipay transfer: 2,500,000.
Chapter 9
I was absolutely shocked!

He was really drunk–he’d accidentally added five zeros to the
amount.
