Chapter 11
The driver finally stopped the car at the hospital entrance.
Was this where he had intended to go?
“You’re going to the hospital?”
“Yes.”
“What for?”
“I might need to visit the emergency room. You should head home first. Be careful, and text me when you get there.”
How could he talk about going to the emergency room so casually?
1/6
And throughout the entire journey, I had no idea he was feeling so unwell that he needed emergency care.
He was always like this, making everything seem effortless, as if all situations were under his control.
He gave the impression that even if the sky were falling, he would smile reassuringly and tell you not to worry, saying he had a solution.
Working with him gave people a sense of security.
Chapter 11
I suddenly remembered something and asked him.
“When you sent me out to buy medicine, were you worried others would pressure me to drink?”
He paused for a moment, then smiled.
“I really couldn’t drink anymore.”
2/6
He couldn’t handle any more alcohol, yet he still shielded me.
“I’m not going home now. I’ll stay here with you.”
He glanced at me.
“If you don’t go back, aren’t you worried your roommate Chloe. will be concerned?”
“Chloe? No, she’s out celebrating her birthday with her boyfriend Jack today.”
“Jack?”
“Yes.”
He looked at me for a few seconds, his mood seemingly improving.
I followed him out of the car.
“Mr. Knight, please give me your ID first. I’ll register for you while you sit here for a moment.”
Chapter 11
He stood motionless, watching me for a long time.
I went to the emergency room to register and find a doctor, which went relatively smoothly.
The emergency room was bustling with activity, patients constantly being wheeled in and out.
3/6
As soon as an empty bed appeared, I hurried to find a doctor.
Just my luck–the emergency doctor was the same one who had treated me before.
“It’s you? For follow–up visits, you should register at gynecology, not come to the emergency room.”
I!!
“I’m not the patient, he is.”
This is killing me.
I pointed at Jasper.
Jasper was looking at me. He didn’t hear that, did he?
Please, no.
The doctor glanced over, his eyes lighting up.
“Jasper, my goodness, what are you doing in the emergency

room? What happened to you?”
“Drank too much.”
Well, these two turned out to be old acquaintances.
The doctor quickly set up an IV for Jasper and performed a procedure to induce vomiting.
I had never seen someone as powerful as Jasper.
4/6
When vomiting, he deliberately avoided others, making even the act of throwing up seem elegant.
After finishing, he lay quietly receiving his IV, as if nothing had happened.
In fact, the doctor said his blood alcohol level was extremely high, nearly reaching alcohol poisoning levels.
“Don’t scare her.”
The doctor looked at me thoughtfully.
“Your girlfriend?”
Jasper didn’t explain.
Bro, I know you’re usually aloof, but in this situation, maybe drop the cold act for a moment.
I hurriedly explained: “No, I’m his staff member.”
Chapter 11
The doctor understood immediately.
“Oh.”
5/6
“I’m not trying to frighten you, but you’re really not taking care of your body. If you had arrived any later, it could have been serious trouble.”
“Alright, you can leave now. Stop being annoying.”
The doctor left after being dismissed.
He opened his eyes again to look at me.
“Don’t worry, he’s just being dramatic. I’m fine. You should go home now, I probably need to sleep for a while.”
“No, I’m not leaving.”
He looked at me for a long time, seemingly without the energy to
argue with me anymore.
Just like a child’s temperament.
I watched as Jasper’s face grew increasingly pale.
I became more and more worried that he might simply pass away in his sleep.
After much consideration, I called Ryan.
Chapter 11
“Sara, what do you need this late at night?”
“Come to the hospital.”
6/6
“Why are you at the hospital? So you think of me when you’re at your most vulnerable?”
“Your father is about to die.”
Idiot.
