I… Wait. How strange, I was definitely sitting at the edge of the bed, so how did my head end up on the bed?
After the nurse inserted the IV for Jasper, he smiled and asked me a question.
“Not hungry.”
“Not hungry.”
“You’re not hungry after sleeping for so long?”
Actually, I was hungry.
“Mr. Knight, are you hungry? I can go out and buy you something to eat.”
“I’ve already asked someone to buy food, it will be delivered
soon.”
“If you’re tired, you can sleep a bit more, or I can have my driver take you home?”

“Oh no, I forgot I have to work today.”
I almost went crazy, immediately getting up to call my boss.
“You don’t need to go to work anymore. This week, your job is to stay with Mr. Knight and take care of him.”
After hanging up, I felt confused.
I asked Jasper.
“Do you need to receive IV treatment continuously for a week?”
“If it’s finished this morning, then no.”
“My boss told me to look after you for a week.”
“I told him I needed IV treatment for a week.”

Not having to go to work for a week was incredibly liberating.
He stood there blankly, sighed, and said, “I still say things without thinking them through.”
Then he picked up his tablet to review company documents and began his daily signing work.
Ryan rushed in with breakfast, saying, “Great, Dad, I’ll take care of you this week.”
Jasper’s face visibly darkened when he saw him.
“Why are you here?”
“I came last night. Sara asked me to come.”
Jasper didn’t ask anything further.
He calmly continued handling company business.

When Ryan went to the bathroom to wash fruit, I was eating breakfast.
Jasper spoke in a casual, relaxed tone.
