Chapter 25
Ryan was completely stunned.
“Dad, you and Sara are… you two?”
Chloe moved closer.
“You jerk, shocked now, aren’t you? According to family hierarchy, you should call Sara your stepmother now.”
Ryan looked at his father first, then turned to me.
“Dad, are you guys playing truth or dare?”
“How could you two possibly be together?”
“You must be joking with me, right?”
“Hahahahaha.”
“This isn’t funny at all.”
He was almost in tears.
Jasper didn’t want to waste any more words.
“Since you’ve seen it, there’s no point hiding it from you.”
“I am indeed with her now.”

Ryan looked at me with disbelief.

“Dad, she’s my ex–girlfriend. Have you lost your mind?”
“You’d better respect her now. If you give her New Year’s
greetings, you might still get some red envelope money for the holiday.”
Ryan?
Chloe?
Me?
That would be some very special New Year’s gift money indeed.
“Sara, I know I was wrong. You’re just getting revenge on me, punishing me, right?”
“How could you be with my dad?”
“You’re supposed to be mine.”
Ryan was nearly going insane.
“I’m not getting revenge on you. You’re not even worth my revenge.”
I didn’t want to deal with him.
As he tried to continue the argument, Jasper glanced at the

sports car in the distance.
“I remember warning you not to take my car out without my permission.”
“Dad.”
Jasper turned to his brother and asked a question.
“Do you like that sports car over there?”
“Love it! Want it! Want to drive it!”
His brother instantly became excited.
“You can drive that car today.”
“Awesome!”
“Dad, what about me?”
“You can take a taxi home.”
“Dad, I’m your son.”
Jasper had been pulling me toward the exit but stopped.
“Let me remind you that, technically speaking, you’re only my adopted son.”
“If Sara has an issue with that, I could stop supporting you altogether.”

Chapter 25
Oh no…
Was their father–son relationship really falling apart?
“Dad, you were the one who told me Sara came from a poor family, and dating someone from a lower social class would cause a lot of trouble. That’s why I broke up with her.”
“Dating down certainly can be troublesome.”
“But while you fear trouble, I don’t.”

Ryan was utterly devastated and started rolling on the ground.
“Dad, that’s not what you used to say.”
“You told me to break up with her.”
“How could you do this to me?”
Jasper looked at him like he was crazy, then pulled me away and left.
I felt uneasy about their father–son relationship breaking down. After all, Jasper had raised Ryan for so many years; they must have emotional bonds.
“Don’t worry about him, I’ve raised him, given him the best of everything, and I’ve definitely spoiled him. It’s time he faces some hardship, or he’ll never amount to anything.”

Oh, he had read my thoughts again.

So he just wanted Ryan to experience some difficulties to help him grow.
Jasper had no intention of completely cutting ties with him.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to raise our children properly in the future. After all, I’ll be a father for the second time.”
Me?
How did things progress to talking about children?
