The next morning, after Andrew left for work, Margaret was still asleep in her room.
Perhaps I had knocked her out good last night.
I quickly took Lily and left for my parents‘ house.
Even though Andrew suggested there would be no Immediate danger, I couldn’t take any chances. Besides, living under the same roof as those two was repulsive.
When my parents saw me arrive with Lily, they were thrilled.
My mum took Lily in her arms, playing with her, making my daughter giggle.
My dad, usually stern, looked warm and gentle as he gazed at his granddaughter.
Seeing the hint of grey in my parents‘ hair made my heart ache, and tears began to fall.
“Dad, Mum, I’m so sorry…”
“Darling, what’s wrong?” my mum asked, her voice filled with concern. “Why are you crying?”
My dad’s face darkened. “Has that Andrew boy upset you? I’m going to find him right now!”
He was ready to leave immediately.
I quickly stopped him. “Dad! Please don’t go… I just regret not listening to you. I shouldn’t have been with Andrew.”
“What happened?” my mum asked, anxiously holding Lily.
I thought for a moment. The idea of hearing Lily’s thoughts was so bizarre; my parents probably wouldn’t believe it. So, I kept that part to myself and only mentioned that I suspected Andrew had someone on the side.
My mum was furious and immediately shouted that I should divorce Andrew.
My dad, however, urged calm. “Darling, the house and car were both acquired after your marriage, and the business was a gift to them after marriage, so they technically own marital assets. If you divorce now, you’ll have to split everything with that scoundrel.”
My dad was right.
Though, given my family’s wealth, it wasn’t a concern.
But I couldn’t bear the thought of it!
The first step in my revenge was to ensure Andrew left with nothing!
My mum calmed down and said, “Then let’s find evidence of Andrew’s affair and file for divorce.”
“Getting evidence won’t be hard, but that’s not enough.”
He not only cheated but also wanted his mother to sell my daughter. If it weren’t for my parents being around, they would have likely found a way to kill me long ago!
I thought for a moment and told my dad, “Dad, can you help me find a private investigator? I need to find out more about that woman Andrew is seeing.”
“Of course!” my dad replied immediately.
A little while later, I received a call from Margaret.
“Emily, where have you been?”

A little while later, I received a call from Margaret.
“Emily, where have you been?”
I replied in a casual tone, “My parents wanted to see Lily, so I came back. I’ll return in a few days.”
“Oh, why didn’t you bring Andrew back with you?” Margaret feigned concern.
“He had to work, so it’s fine.”
“Well then, just spend some more time with your parents and Lily.”
Margaret hurriedly hung up the phone.
To them, I was still that naive Emily who let them deceive and betray me. Returning to my parents‘ house was just an ordinary event; they thought I would obediently return in a few days.
The cameras installed were discreet miniature ones, set up while Margaret and Andrew were out of the house.
I had meant to tell them about it, but with all my focus on caring for Lily, it slipped my mind.
So, they were unaware that there were cameras in the house.
From the footage, I saw that after Andrew finished work, he didn’t come home alone; he was followed by a woman and a small boy.
It looked like this was Andrew’s mistress and their illegitimate son.
When I saw the woman’s face, my eyes widened in shock as if struck by lightning!
This woman was none other than my old university roommate, Sophie Taylor!
Back when Andrew was pursuing me, Sophie had helped him by delivering love letters and various gifts and always hinted to me how wonderful he was!
Could it be that they had set their sights on me even back then?
Sophie was truly heartless!
She had come from a poor background; during our first year of university, to save money, she skipped breakfast and only ate rice with one vegetable for lunch and dinner, plus the free soup from the cafeteria.
Seeing her struggle made me feel guilty, so every time I went to the cafeteria or bought food back to the dorm, I’d get extra, claiming I was afraid of wasting it and pulling her along to share.
She was shorter than me, and sometimes when I bought clothes, I’d intentionally buy smaller sizes and say I couldn’t fit them, directly gifting them to her.
She seemed to appreciate my kindness, often acting as if she cared about me.
After university, she gradually stopped contacting me, and I thought she had returned home. I never imagined… she had become my husband’s mistress and bore him a child!
Thinking about it, the wealth my family possessed was something they could never earn in their lifetime.
No wonder they had plotted for all those years.
Now that I knew this woman’s identity, it would be much easier to have the private investigator look into her backg.
I asked my dad for the private investigator’s contact information, then sent him Sophie’s name, age, university, and major.
Sophie never shared much about her personal life during university, so all I knew were those bits from our time together.
But having these details would certainly save the investigator some legwork.
After chatting with the investigator, I returned to the footage.
I saw Margaret busy preparing various delicious dishes for her precious grandson, while that little monster ran around my house, causing chaos, eventually charging into Lily’s nursery, knocking over the crib, and tearing apart several dolls.
But no one dared to scold him.
Sophie strutted into my bedroom, slipped into my silk pyjamas, used my expensive skincare products, and then got cozy with Andrew on my
bed.
Andrew soon met another woman.

Andrew was absolutely thrilled.
At that moment, I returned from my parents‘ house.
I had stayed there for over two months, but they didn’t seem to mind that I hadn’t brought Lily back.
Andrew even had the audacity to throw a divorce agreement at me.
I was stunned and asked, “What do you mean? You want a divorce?”
“That’s right! Emily, I’m fed up with you after all these years. Sign the papers and let’s part ways amicably,” Andrew declared arrogantly, completely different from the good husband he usually pretended to be.
I cursed myself inwardly for being so blind in the past.
But I still put on a heartbroken expression. “Darling, why? We’ve been together for so long; haven’t we always been good? And what about our daughter if we divorce?”
“She’s just a little girl, who cares? If you want her, you can have her!” Margaret scoffed.
Ignoring her, I glanced at the divorce agreement.
The greedy Andrew, having latched onto a wealthy heiress, still wanted to split our marital assets with me.
“Andrew, I don’t want a divorce. Can we not do this?”
“Emily, can you stop being so annoying?” Andrew nearly shouted, “I have no feelings left for you; I can’t continue like this! If you don’t agree to the divorce, don’t blame me if I leave you hanging!”
Of course, he was worried.
After all, that heiress’s family was richer than mine.
“Just sign the papers already! While you’re still young, you can still secure a decent dowry and find someone new. If you wait two more years with a child in tow, who would want you?” Margaret added condescendingly.
I wiped my tears while inwardly snickering.
After a moment, I pretended to make up my mind. “I’ll sign, but I won’t sign this agreement. Andrew, since you want the divorce, you’ll have to leave empty–handed, and I get full custody of our daughter.”
“What!” Margaret shouted in panic, “Why should my son leave empty–handed? He’s wasted so many years on you–he deserves some compensation!”
