Andrew went to confront Sophie about their son.
With the paternity test in hand, Sophie had no way to argue.
Adding to that, Andrew had barely given her any money recently, so she was already unhappy with him.
They started arguing, which quickly escalated into a physical fight, and in the chaos, Andrew accidentally killed Sophie.
Panic–stricken, he tried to flee but was apprehended by the police before he could even leave the city.
Andrew was sentenced to life imprisonment, and not long after, I heard that he had been killed in a fight in prison.
Sophie’s son was sent to St. Anne’s Orphanage, while Margaret… I spotted her one day when I was out driving with a friend, sca food on the street.
She looked completely deranged, her mental state clearly unstable.
I merely glanced at her before looking away.
I felt no sympathy for someone who had tried to sell my daughter and wanted me dead.
Karma had caught up with her; she got what she deserved.
A few months later, while playing with my parents and Lily, I suddenly heard my daughter’s voice again.
“Wah, Grandad and Grandma are so nice, but it’s a pity they will both pass away in ten years due to illness…”
I was taken aback.
So, if I hadn’t heard Lily’s thoughts from the start, she would have been sold, I would have adopted Sophie’s son, and in ten years, my would die of illness, leaving me vulnerable to Andrew and his plans!
In ten years, my parents would be in their sixties; if they weren’t sick, they surely wouldn’t pass away so early!
I jumped to my feet.
“Dad, Mum, we need to go to the hospital right now for a full check–up!”
Although Lily didn’t mention any specific illness, I believed that if I paid more attention to my parents‘ health from now on and took them regular check–ups, I could change our fate.
After all, I had already changed it once!
