Another voice chimed in simultaneously. “Mr. Bradley! The DNA report for the child is out!”
The officer holding the DNA report looked grim, casting an involuntary glance at Paul.
Billy seemed to realize something, looking at Paul with a complex expression.
“Paul, you…”
Everyone anticipated what Billy was about to
say.
Paul roared, “Today is not April Fool’s Day! What the hell are you guys doing?! Why are you all looking at me like that? What does that child have to do with me, and why are you all looking at me like that?!”

“Could it be that you’ve also taken Lee’s money, and you want to join her in messing with me?”
Billy thought he was just overwhelmed, which was why he was somewhat falling apart.
Only I knew that he didn’t want to admit that I was really carrying his child.
He didn’t want to have anything to do with
me…
Billy took the DNA report, glanced at it, and his face was filled with sorrow.
“Alright, Paul, pull yourself together. We can’t let Lee die in vain. The killer hasn’t been caught yet!”
Paul’s pupils violently contracted, his face went pale, and he started to tremble
uncontrollably.

“Mr. Sharp, she can’t be dead! This child can’t be mine!”
“I couldn’t have touched her! How could they, a family of sinners…”
Billy sighed and placed the report on the table.
Kyra gently patted Paul’s back in an attempt to soothe him.
“Paul, don’t be sad, as you still have me.”
Her soft voice seemed to calm Paul’s frantic
heart.
Paul gradually calmed down in her arms.
I watched as Paul stood up and returned to his investigation, lost in thought.
My death…seemed to be of little consequence to him.

He continued the investigation in a business- like manner, instructing people to continue searching the first crime scene and assigning another team to search for the person based on the portrait drawn by Kyra.
Billy couldn’t bear to see him continue with the investigation and planned to give him a few days off to rest at home.
I shouted in the air, hoping Paul would
accept.
“Go home!”
“There are clues there!”
“That is…the first crime scene.”
But Paul refused.
“To me, she’s just a deceased person. Don’t worry, I won’t lose my judgment over her.”

Just a deceased person?
Those words echoed in the air, hitting my soul. I clutched my chest, staring at him in disbelief.
Paul and I grew up together since we were kids.
As his wife, am I less important than a stranger now that I’m dead?
