Matteo saw the crowd around. He noticed the pool of blood oozing from between my legs.
He panicked and tried to approach me to help me up.
Tia grabbed hold of his arm. “What was happening?! Why were you planning a wedding with her? She seduced you and you got confused, isn’t it?”
The crowd surrounded him and started piping, “Sir, have you any idea how brazen that homewrecker was to have attacked your wife?!”
“Exactly! See, we get that boys will be boys. Getting mixed up with the wrong woman is an honest mistake for many men! Please, Mrs. Brando, you should forgive him!”
Matteo swung Tia’s hand away, but she grabbed him again–even more tightly.
Panic caused his face to redden, and he suddenly shouted, “Shut the fuck up, all of your
The crowd went silent, stunned.
He turned to me and blabbered in panic, “G–Gina, h–how are you? Are you okay?”
I sneered and slapped his outreached hand away. “Don’t even touch me!”
Tia was alarmed.
“You can’t possibly have fallen in love with her, can you?!” she shrieked. “You don’t even know if that baby is yours–you have no reason to care about her!”
She reminded shrillily, “We’ve taken wedding photos together already!”
I cupped my stomach as warm red liquid dripped down my thighs. It dyed the white carpet red.
I felt so disappointed. How could he do this to me? Why would he do this to me?
I raised my head and glared into his eyes. “I never thought you would be so forgetful, Matteo. My family treated you so well. My dad was the only one who supported letting you manage the company… and this is how you treat me?
“Keeping a mistress behind my back?! Letting her throw a bitch fit at our wedding venue and walking all over me?! Great! We are not getting married. This is over!”
Matteo’s panic exploded. He shoved Tia away, lunged toward me, and tried to help me out. “Listen, Gina! It’s not what you think! We’ve been together for seven years–there’s no way I would have wanted to start an affair with anyone!”
He pointed at Tia and roared, “She’s the problem! She stalks me and won’t leave me in peace! I wanted her to leave me alone so I decided to take fake wedding pictures with her! I didn’t know it would embolden her into… doing all of this!”
I looked away from Matteo as he continued to yap.
The crowd–who previously supported Tia–had become suspiciously mute.
Suddenly, they realized it might be better to sit back and watch, instead of reacting and getting burned in

the process.
It was then my steadfast secretary, Vivian Lord, showed up with the police.
As soon as she saw the state I was in, her face turned pale. She crouched to the floor, ignoring the blood staining her shirt, and helped me up. “Let’s get to the hospital, Miss McPherson!”
Matteo seemed to have noticed me for the first time and approached us. He tried to take me away from her. “Let me carry her!”
Vivian shot a look of dagger at him. “Hands off, Matteo Brando! Don’t even think of standing close to Miss McPherson if you know what’s good for you!”
The hotel owner finally realized I was not some common folk he could bully.
As an act of ingratiation, he ordered loudly, “Where the hell is our security? I want this hysterical Mrs. Brando imposter out of my premises! From now on, she is barred from entering this hotel!”
Several hulking security guards began to drag Tia toward the door.
“What are you doing to me?! Let me go! I’m Matteo Brando’s wife! I’m the CEO’s woman! We literally have wedding photos, you stupid dumb muscles!” she screamed. “Let me go or else—”
I took a deep breath and felt a little grateful. When you thought about it–knowing how much of a bad news Matteo was before marrying him was a blessing in disguise.
