Chapter 6
“Yes,” I admitted openly, my voice steady.
The surrounding crowd immediately turned their disgusted gazes toward me, one person sneering.
“A leopard cannot change its spots!”
I ignored the jab and focused on Megan.
“Your code is impressive. I couldn’t help but take a peek, but I noticed it only addresses the first two parts of the project. What’s your plan for wrapping up the third part?”
A flicker of uncertainty crossed Megan’s eyes as she stammered, “Well… I still need a few more days.”
With that, she quickly closed her laptop, and I could see right through her feigned confidence.
It was obvious she had no clue about the final section.
Coincidentally, I hadn’t given the third part much thought either, too consumed by the chaos of the plagiarism scandal.
I wondered, “Could it be that if I’m stuck, Megan is too?”
But I quickly dismissed that thought.
Chapter 6
It was too fantastical and lacked any real basis. I thought I was just on edge from trying to avoid the same disastrous fate as in my past life.
Meanwhile, the others in the room were fuming, rallying behind Megan.
“This is a competition piece! How shameless can you be, trying to leech off Megan’s ideas?”
“Exactly! Megan doesn’t owe you anything! You’re just a copycat!”
I let out a long sigh, finally speaking up, “Don’t worry, I’ll withdraw from the competition.”
With that, I set my utensils down and walked out, the weight of everything pressing on my shoulders.
The events of the past few days had drained my spirit, and it felt like an invisible force was dragging me back into the whirlpool of my previous life’s plagiarism nightmare.
I knew I had to step back, even if it meant letting down my teammates and professors. It was the only way I could find a way to survive this..
I pulled out my phone and dialed a number.

When I heard the deep voice on the other end, I requested, “I need to withdraw from the competition. Can you help me?”
Chapter 6
Once everything was arranged, I took a moment to inform my teacher that I’d be taking a leave of absence.
The tension of these past few days had left me unable to focus on my studies, and thoughts of my parents‘ tragic fate in my previous life pushed me to hurry home.
When I faced my parents‘ worried expressions, I poured out everything that had happened.
They listened intently, deep in thought, but ultimately remained steadfast in their support.
“Sweetheart, you just need to take some time to rest. Don’t think about anything else; your health is what matters most.”
“Yeah, I’ll go grab a fish for dinner. It’ll help you think better.”
In their presence, I felt like a carefree child again, but I couldn’t shake the memory of how they had suffered for my sake in my past life.
I blinked back tears and said, “Dad, Mom, let’s move. A change of scenery might help me feel better.”
