Chapter 12
Ryan prepared a special bowl of water and handed it to me.
“Drink this, and no matter what curses or hexes are thrown your way, they won’t affect you anymore.”
I took a deep breath and downed the liquid. Almost immediately I felt the necklace loosen around my neck, and with a gentle tug, it slipped off effortlessly.
Ryan then pulled out a talisman and affixed it to the pendant of the necklace, a satisfied grin spreading across his face.
“This little curse? My cat loves to snack on it. Once the child curse is eliminated, the one who cast it and the mother curse will face their
own consequences.
“Don’t worry, girl. Just focus on what you need to do,” he reassured
- me.
At that moment, his black cat lazily meowed, as if to say, “I’ve got
this covered.”
After Ryan finished his preparations, Miranda and my mom called us to the table for dinner.
We all sat down together, sharing laughs and stories, and the atmosphere was light and joyful. Once we finished our meal, Ryan scooped up his cat and headed out, leaving me with a

sense of hope.
The next day, I returned to school, and as soon as I stepped through the doors, Marvin found me, beaming with excitement.
“Keira, you won’t believe it! We won first place in the international competition!”
I was genuinely thrilled for them, but curiosity about Megan’s group’s results gnawed at me. “What about Megan’s team? How did they do?”
Marvin smirked, “You’ll have to check the school forum for the juicy details.”
I pulled out my phone and scrolled through the forum, my jaw dropping at the flood of scandalous news about Megan.
[Wait a minute. She got into Arona University through connections? Her professors have been fired and are under police investigation!]
[Serves her right! I knew her group was doomed! There’s no way someone like Megan could write such impressive code—she must have been copying!]
[Good thing she didn’t compete; otherwise, she’d be a laughingstock for not even being able to write basic code!]
The comments poured in. It turned out that the fallout from the major bug in Megan’s group’s project had caused their hard work to go up in smoke.

In a fit of rage, her teammates confronted her, leading to a physical altercation.
Logan, ever the knight in shining armor, tried to defend Megan but ended up with a broken bone and was now in the hospital.
The hidden bug in Megan’s program had become a notorious challenge in the competition, so cleverly designed that the organiz decided to use it as a prize puzzle.
As the original creator, I quickly cracked the code and shared my solution on the academic forum.
The response was overwhelming.
[Wow! I can’t believe you figured it out like that! You’re amazing!]
[You’re a genius! I’ve been scratching my head over this for ages!]
[Wait a minute—only the original programmer would know how to solve this. Does that mean Megan’s program was actually Keira’s work?]
[Absolutely! Otherwise, why would Megan accuse Keira of plagiarism?]
In an instant, my reputation at school turned around. People were praising and admiring my skills, and I felt a rush of vindication.

Within a few days, the organizers of the international

competition reached out to me, extending an invitation to join their team.
Just when I was grappling with that decision, I received news that I had been accepted into graduate studies under the renowned professor Vincent.
At the hospital, a shocking incident unfolded.
Megan, in a fit of madness, stormed through the corridors, searching for Logan.
What exactly transpired between them is a mystery, but it ended catastrophically–Megan pushed Logan from the fifteenth floor of the hospital.
He fell hard, his body turning into a mangled heap upon impact. His last moments were haunting; he mumbled something about curses as his life slipped away, words laced with a dark promise that Megan would suffer.
Disturbingly, it seemed to come true.
In the wake of her terrifying act, Megan completely unraveled. Stricken by madness, she clawed at her own face until it was unrecognizable, ending up in a psychiatric ward, locked away from the world.
But none of this concerned me.
