Chapter 1
My husband was drinking with my adopted sister, who had recently broken her ankle, when I had an asthma attack.
The phone calls from me irritated him, so he reprimanded me, saying, “Can you stop being so annoying? If you really have asthma, just go to hell.”
The only person I could reach in my hour of need was Hilton Jacques, my childhood sweetheart who grew up with me. But I had no idea that my adopted sister’s voice was coming from the other end of the phone.
“Hilton, I like you and I know you like me
too…”
My adoptive sister then publicly disclosed her relationship with Hilton. I laughed at myself and liked her Moments.
After my adoptive daughter turned around and accused me of deceiving her, my husband and my childhood sweetheart

In a fit of rage, my biological parents also froze all of my money, leaving me on my own. They were nervous when I really departed.

The ward door was kicked open thirty minutes after Daisie’s post was liked.
Jeffrey hurried in and gave me a strong kick to the stomach before I could set down the water cup. My body sprang out of my tummy and struck the bed behind me as the heartbreaking anguish spread.
“I have long put up with you, Madeline. There was no one to go with Daisie when she hurt her ankle. You claimed to be ill to frighten others away when I was staying with her. How shameless!”
“What are you doing?!” I glanced at him fiercely while covering my stomach uneasily.

“Are you still bold enough to ask me? Daisie has restored everything to you since your return. She owes you nothing, yet she feels terrible since you insisted on causing difficulties when she wanted to be cared for the most. You are so cruel!” Anger filled Jeffrey’s eyes, as though he might suddenly leap up and strangle me to death.
Daisie was the Spencer Family’s adoptive daughter. My original parents adopted Daisie to help them deal with their lovesickness during the ten years that I was missing.
I had no idea what had happened to Daisie in the fifth year following my return. She abruptly decided to sever ties with the Spencer Family, claiming that she no longer wanted to partake in the joy and that she wanted to give me back all I owned.
Jeffrey felt I was making Daisie go, but he was wrong. His demeanor abruptly changed after he had spent his entire life

yelling that he would repay me for my compassion. He started to remove himself from me and even threatened to divorce
- me.
I swallowed my rage and glanced at Hilton, who had come with Jeffrey and asked him to help me up.
Hilton shied away from my touch in disgust. “Don’t touch me, you disgust me. When Daisie was little, her parents passed away. She was eventually adopted, but she had to sacrifice her hard–earned happiness because of you. It’s okay that you don’t feel sorry for her, but you also bully her during her most vulnerable moments! I should
have left you to die under the bridge. instead of picking you up in the first place.”
I believed I was having hallucinations as my hands stuck uncomfortably in midair.
Hilton and I were friends for a long time. He picked me up when I was lost and raised me. During that time, he constantly looked out for me like an older brother and

if something tasty and enjoyable happened, he thought of me first.
“Madeline, aside from my mother, you are the most important woman in my life,” he added. “I will only give you good treatment throughout my life.”
That was why I brought him to my side as soon as I got back to the Spencer household.
Hilton didn’t like Daisie at first. He claimed
that Daisie was a cunning fox that
constantly pretended to be pathetic while hiding behind those innocent eyes. I wasn’t sure when his attitude toward
Daisie changed, but he frequently made comparisons between myself and Daisie.
