“Tim, you’re my best friend. How could you sleep with my wife?!” Ken yelled as he swung a punch that landed squarely on Tim’s face.
I had never seen him so furious.
Tim did not fight back. It was surprising he did not even dodge.
I quickly put my clothes back on and tried to pull Ken away, but his strength was too much. So, I grabbed a vase and smashed it over Ken’s head.
The room fell silent.
Ken, bleeding from his forehead, looked at me in shock. “You hit me for him?”
“Yes! I never touched your woman, so don’t touch my man. If you’re unhappy, go ahead and divorce me. Don’t you ever lay a hand on him again!”
I ignored Ken and helped Tim out to get his injuries treated at the hospital.
Ken, who always claimed he was too busy with work, while in fact, he was just spending time with Jenny, suddenly was not so busy. He followed us to the hospital.
“Did he threaten you?” Ken asked.
“No.”
“He seduced you then!”

Tim hissed softly.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
He murmured, “It hurts. I’m not blaming Ken. This is all my fault. I can’t complain if he beat me to a pulp. It’s what I deserve. It’s just… It really hurts.”

I always stood by Ken during any confrontation in the past.
For the first time, I stood against him.
Ken looked at me, his eyes filled with pain and desperation. I felt nothing but disgust.
I left with Tim. Ken tried to follow, but he could not catch the elevator. He called me over and over until I blocked his number.
Not long after, his mother called and yelled, “I knew you couldn’t be trusted! You cheated on him and fooled around in the office with his best friend. You’re a disgrace to the family!”
I had enough.
I retorted, “Ken was off with another woman on our wedding night. Your family lost its dignity long before I got here. When you tried to set him up with your friend’s daughter, knowing he was married, you gave up any pretense of respect!”
I respected her back when I loved Ken, but I no longer did, so she was nothing to me. Just because she was a high–society woman, it did not make her a queen.
Ken’s mother was so angry she nearly passed out. I hung up on her and blocked her as well. Ken tried reaching out with different numbers, but I blocked every one. Even mutual ⚫ friends tried to defend him.
“Jenny manipulated Ken. She faked severe depression and threatened suicide. He didn’t have a choice.”
“He’s completely cut ties with Jenny now. Why don’t you forgive him?”
“He realizes he was wrong now. Can’t you give him one more chance?”
I blocked everyone who sided with him. Besides, they were not real friends if they never cared about how I felt.
