Chapter 9
After hearing a few of Annie’s words, I couldn’t take it anymore. I waved my hand. at the locksmith nearby and instructed him. to force the door open.
Annie was startled by the sound of the door opening. She wrapped herself tightly in her pajamas and glared at me with wide, angry eyes. “Tricia, what do you want to do? I’m ‘ going to sue you for breaking into my private property!”
“Go ahead, I’ll file a lawsuit for you,” I retorted, pulling out my phone and dialing the police. I told them the reason was that someone had broken into the house without permission.
Annie was furious. She glared at me and
tried to complain to Dwayne on the other end of the phone.
But Dwayne had his hands full with his
own issues and had no time for her.

The police arrived shortly. I followed them into Annie’s so–called new house. As I
looked around, I couldn’t help but notice how the decoration style was almost identical to mine. I picked up an ivory ornament from a shelf and threw it to the
ground with a sharp crack.
This ivory ornament was worth thirty thousand.
Annie screamed in fury. “Why did you throw my things away?!”
I squinted at her, a hint of disdain in my expression. This woman was truly
ridiculous.
“Is this your thing?” I asked, my voice calm but pointed.
When Dwayne started his business, he had someone custom–make the ivory
ornaments to symbolize the early success of his venture. He had always told me it was a token, something that marked a special moment for us.

Now, seeing this token in someone else’s house made it feel cheap, trivial.
“These were given to me by Dwayne, so why wouldn’t they count as mine?!” Annie snapped, her face flushed with anxiety as she feared I would destroy everything in
her home.
The police officers quickly understood the situation and exchanged confused glances.
“Comrade officer, she just admitted that these things were gifts from Dwayne. He was still married to me when he gave them to her. Do I not have the right to claim
them?”
“According to the law, you have the right to own property acquired during marriage,” one officer replied, sounding neutral.
“Well, since I have the right, I’ll decide what happens to them,” I said, walking toward the wall and tossing several decorative bottles to the ground with a sharp motion. The bottles shattered loudly,

worth tens of thousands.
“Tricia, are you insane?!” Annie shouted, her voice cracking in disbelief.
“I’m not crazy,” I said coolly. “I just have too much money.”
As I spoke, I lifted the vase again, raising my arm high. Annie, desperate, rushed toward me, trying to snatch it back. I swiftly stepped back, leaving her to tumble to the floor in front of me, her face contorted in pain.
The police had seen all kinds of things in their careers. They didn’t bat an eye at a first wife cleaning up after her husband’s affair, as long as things didn’t escalate too
far.
I knelt down, grabbed Annie‘ s chin, and said in a cold, deliberate voice, “I want you to see what it feels like to have everything you stole taken back.”
“Keep your eyes wide open and watch carefully.”

With that, I began to destroy Annie’s house. Almost nothing in it was left
unscathed.
On top of that, my lawyer had tallied up the amount of money Dwayne had spent on Annie during their marriage–an enormous
sum.
I wrote down an account number and handed it to the police, asking them to pass it on to Annie. It didn’t matter if she
couldn’t pay it all back. I had a long life ahead of me and could pay in installments.
This account was for a welfare
organization, a small act of redemption for a villain like me.
As for Dwayne, the scandal surfaced at a crucial time for his business, and unsurprisingly, he was ousted by the company’s board of directors.
Legally, I could have kicked him out of the house and demanded everything. But when Dwayne heard the news, he collapsed to his

knees in front of me, tears streaming down his face, begging me not to divorce him.
“Tricia, if the child is gone, we can have another… I’ll even adopt one, if that‘ s what it takes. Please, don‘ t divorce me.”
Considering Dwayne’s usual arrogance, I never thought he would beg me like this. But people change, just like when he once loved me with everything he had.
