“You want me to leave you here alone?” Marion asked, disbelief etched on his face.
“William is right,” Debra insisted. “If you take me now, we won’t make it. And I’ll lose all the trust I’ve built with Drake. I’ve already uncovered part of his gray market operations. You need to go quickly. I’ll wait for you to rescue me.”
Marion was reluctant, and she turned to William. “Take him away. Return to Seamar City, set everything up, and then come get me.
William saw her determination and tugged at Marion’s arm. “Marion, just listen to her and go with me. Do you want her blood on your hands?”
Marion finally let go of her. “Three days. I’ll come back in three days.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you,” Debra replied, her heart aching as she watched Marion and William drive away.
Once they were gone, she exhaled a sigh of relief.
The scene was set near Drake’s casino, and she glanced at the smoldering wreckage.
With a plan formulating in mind, she collapsed to the ground and crawled forward. “Help.. Help…”
Inside the casino, Drake had just descended from the third floor when a security guard sprinted up in a panic.
“Mr. Lowe, there’s been an incident.”
“What now?”
“Ms. Frazier’s car was in an accident.”
Drake seized the guard by the collar. “Where? What happened? Speak!”
“Mr. Bruce is dead, and Ms. Frazier has been taken to the hospital. She’s still unconscious.”
Drake shoved the guard aside and barked his order. “Get the car. We’re going to the hospital.”
“Yes, boss.” Kale quickly went to get the car.
As they sped through the city center, Drake’s expression darkened further upon seeing the charred remains of Debra’s car.

Kale glanced in the rearview mirror, noticing the grim set of Drake’s jaws.
“I’ve already ordered an investigation. We should have results soon.”
“I want to know who did this by morning.”
“Understood.”
When they arrived at the hospital, the director came out to reassure them.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Lowe. Her injuries are minor. With proper care, she’ll be fine.”
“Has she woken up?”
“Not yet.
Drake stopped in his tracks and glared at the director.
“Not yet?”
“She will wake up in half an hour. I’ll make sure of it.”
“I’m giving you ten minutes. If she isn’t awake, you won’t be the director anymore.”
“Understood, Mr. Lowe. I’ll have the doctors tend to her right away.”
