Just as he prepared to strike, Debra suddenly halted her retreat.
Taking a steadying breath, she called out, “Drake, if you’ve had your fun, come out.”
Kale frowned, and Drake emerged from the shadows of a nearby tree. “Kale, stop scaring her.”
Kale’s frustration was palpable, but with Drake’s order hanging in the air, he reluctantly acquiesced.
Debra shot a challenging look at Drake. “Is it fun?”
“Kale doesn’t trust you, so he wanted to test you. I assumed you wouldn’t mind.”
“I mind, actually,” Debra retorted, narrowing her eyes at Kale. “How do I know your loyal subordinate wouldn’t just decide to eliminate me right here?”
If it weren’t for Drake’s earlier assurance in the hospital that Kale wouldn’t harm her without his orders, she might have feared for her life.
But thankfully, this time was merely a test.
Drake gestured toward the lake. “I’m going to develop this land. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on real estate. How much do you think this place could yield?”
Only then did she notice the expanse of the land. If it wasn’t destined for commercial use, it was likely earmarked for upscale residential developments, complete with green spaces. It was a colossal project.
“It depends on how you plan to utilize it. With a plot of this size, it’s hard to envision any loss,” she replied thoughtfully.
The land wasn’t quite suburban yet, but with its sheer size, as long as Drake had a modicum of sense, he wouldn’t incur any losses. Whether it took a few years or more than a decade, the investment would eventually yield returns.
Drake’s eyes glinted with ambition. “I intend to transform this place into the largest entertainment resort in Orkgate.”
“A theme park?” Debra inquired, raising an eyebrow.
“Not exactly.” A faint smile tugged at Drake’s lips. “It’s going to be a playground for the │elite.”
The purpose of the land quickly crystallized in her mind.

He sauntered onto a stone bridge that had already been constructed, as if he had meticulously plotted out every detail of his business plan.
Debra understood that the Lowe family’s power stemmed from their vast network of secrets. They held the keys to countless lives. If those secrets were unveiled, many would fall from grace.
Perhaps Marion’s parents had tried to bring down the Lowe family, leading to the brutal retribution they had faced.
“Are you interested?” Drake suddenly inquired, breaking her train of thought.
Debra replied, “Sure, but will you allow me to oversee this project?”
“As long as you help me take down Marion and secure the treasure, this whole venture will be yours to share with me. I’m always generous to loyal subordinates, and I assure you, you won’t be treated unfairly,” he said confidently.
Debra couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
