Chapter 6
Our car sped off and through the rearview mirror, I saw Leon pull over to the side of the road. A moment later, I saw a familiar figure hopped across the street and casually slid into his passenger seat.
My professor sighed, his eyes filled with doubts as he looked at me. “Cassidy, are you sure about this? You still have a chance to regret it before we reach the airport.”
I shook my head. There was nothing left to regret. I had seen Leon and Myrna’s chat history clearly.
Their first meeting had been a mere accident.
It happened while Leon and I were camping and I suddenly came down with a high fever. Leon carried me to the nearest hospital, where Myrna just happened to be
an intern nurse.
When she struggled to give me an

injection, accidentally causing me pain a few times, Leon lashed out at her fiercely.
“My wife has been afraid of pain since she was a child. I can’t bear to hurt her even the slightest bit. How dare you be so careless? Do you know who I am? Call your director over, I want you gone right now!”
Myrna was scared by Leon‘ s anger, crying uncontrollably. Leon didn’t even spare her a glance, his eyes only filled with concern as he focused on my swollen.
hand.
Seeing that Myrna was still young, I felt a pang of sympathy and spoke up on her behalf.
Afterward, I heard that Myrna had been significantly affected by the incident. I even had someone deliver a gift and an apology to her, helping her secure a permanent position.

second female lead an opportunity to latch onto Leon.
Myrna’s intentions were never pure. Instead of focusing on her work, she schemed and carefully inserted herself into Leon’s circle of friends. From trivial acts of concern to provocative photos, it soon escalated into eager invitations.
Leon, initially indifferent, gradually became more proactive. In the end, to make things easier for her, he used the excuse of loving me to invest in a hospital for Myrna.
Along the way, he had countless chances to turn back. All he had to do was remember ne, his wife and uphold the last shred of ntegrity to save our marriage.
But he did none of it.
He chose Myrna time and time again, between me and her.
He chose betrayal over loyalty, again and again.

So this time, I wouldn’t turn back.
After hearing my story, my professor patted my shoulder.
“Cassidy, you’re still young. I’ve been through this. The moment he added her as a friend, your marriage had already begun to crack.”
He continued, “Reaching this point wast inevitable, but thankfully, you‘ re still young.”
“Waking up and walking away now- that’s a wise choice,” he concluded.
Indeed, I’m still young. I still had so much time and a bright future ahead of me. Hence, didn’t want to waste any more energy on Leon. I didn’t want to hear his fake explanations.
I no longer wanted to argue with him about. these disgusting things anymore, or keep getting tangled up in it.
