Chapter 7
The past had gone and could never be changed, but the future is still full of possibilities.
I understood Leon‘ s personality and knew that the bond we shared from childhood wouldn’t be so easily broken.
That’s precisely why I made this decision. with such determination. I wouldn’t give either of us a chance to turn back…
I would remove Leon from my life forever. I would make sure that Leon could never
find me again.
I was going to start a new chapter of my
life.
I had been on my way to the Southern part of the continent, while Leon remained blissfully unaware of my departure.
On his way home, Leon had bought Cassidy

her favorite chestnut cake. He thought it would make her smile.
He believed it had been the most
unforgettable, joyful birthday of his life. A beautiful wife, a lovely mistress and children to complete the picture.
But the moment Leon opened the door to his home, the joy in his heart faded.
Cassidy wasn’t there.
He frantically searched the villa, but the girl who used to be waiting on the couch for him had vanished without a trace.
His heart began to race.
Anxiety and fear crept into Leon’s mind. He pulled out his phone and called Cassidy, but the phone on the coffee table rang instead.
Relief washed over him for a moment. “She must not have taken her phone… she can’t have gone far.”
His eyes then fell on the delicately wrapped

gift box beside him. He smiled and eagerly. opened it.
But as soon as he saw what was inside, his heart dropped and a wave of terror washed over him.
Inside the box was a photo of the baby‘ s ultrasound and Cassidy‘ s miscarriage report. The baby had been healthy, developing perfectly–but would never have the chance to enter this world.
“This can’t be…”
In a panic, Leon crumpled the miscarriage report and continued searching the empty villa.
“Cassidy, don’t scare me… This isn’t funny.”
“Where are you? Don‘ t hide… I’m really scared. I give up, okay? Just come out!”
All that answered him was the suffocating silence.
He stared blankly at the familiar

surroundings, his mind racing. Then, in a daze, he picked up Cassidy’s phone.
The password hadn‘ t changed–it was still his birthday. But the contents of the phone struck him like a lightning bolt.
The most recent message was from just an hour ago.
It was from Myrna. The video they had sent was explicit and the sounds of their voices filled the room.
[In such an important moment, you left her to be with me. That means, in your heart, I’m the one who matters most, right?]
At that moment, Leon, caught up in the
homent and lost in desire, had replied, [Of course.“]
The phone slipped from his hands, crashing to the floor, its screen shattered.
Leon shook his head in disbelief. “This isn’t what you think, Cassidy. It’s not like that. Please, come out, let me explain.”

He trembled, “I only said that to make her happy. I’ve already warned her–she‘ 11 never take your place.”
He mumbled to himself, as if trying to deceive his own mind. He knew exactly what he had done.
He also knew exactly what Cassidy was like. She looked delicate, but she was more understanding and stronger than anyone else. When she loved, she gave everything without holding back.
And when she left, she never looked back.
Leon collapsed onto the cold floor, feeling as if the world was spinning. He couldn’t muster the strength to get up.
She had known all along. She hadn’t cried or caused a scene. She had prepared him a big surprise for the day she left.
Silent tears rolled down Leon’s face.
Who should he blame? Should he blame Cassidy for being heartless? For walking

away so decisively?
Leon couldn’t bring himself to do that
