With a mocking smile, I looked at him. “Sir, it seems you really like making promises. Too bad, you’ve got the wrong person to talk to.”
Seeing that Leon didn’t believe me, I took. out my ID and showed it to him.
“No, I won‘ t look. You can’t fool me. You‘ re my Cassie. I’ll never be mistaken about you.” He persisted, “Cassie, please forgive me. You have no idea what I’ve been through these years. Every night, I dream about you, but when I wake up, you‘ re gone.”
“I can’t bear that feeling… I don’t want to feel it again.” Leon stubbornly grabbed my hand, as if afraid I would silently vanish from in front of him once more.
My professor noticed what was happening. and stepped in to help me out of the situation. He smiled at Leon, but his words.

“My student is a contributor to this country and society, not someone who you could turn into a pretty pet bird. If you show her any disrespect, I’m afraid even your entire family won’t be able to protect you, Mr. Herber,” my professor warned him sternly.
Three years had passed and a chasm had formed between us that could never be

Even though Leon recognized me, even though he was reluctant to accept it, he was powerless.
“Cassie, why? Why are you doing this to me? I… I’d rather you hate me,” he said desperately.
“Sorry, sir, but I’m about to start my next project. Please don’t waste my time and don‘ t interfere with my life again.”

Leon tried to follow, but security stopped him. I watched as his tall figure slumped, his silent tears falling.
The confident, once reckless man who had loved me so intensely was, in that moment, gone for good.
The promises he made all–those years ago, after time had passed, were now fulfilled. From now on, the Leon who remained in this world was nothing more than an empty shell.
And I… would walk alone toward the bright
