To my surprise, on the second day of the lawsuit, he actually brought my parents over.
I hadn’t informed them about the divorce, clearly, he was scheming. He thought their presence might make me reconsider, perhaps mending our relationship somehow.
However, when I met my parents at the hotel and explained everything, they, though fond of Leon, supported their daughter first and foremost.
He didn’t expect that my parents would actually support my decision to divorce. He thought my parents, with their old-fashioned thinking, wouldn’t agree to their child’s divorce.
His plan backfired.
Thus, he stationed himself daily outside the hotel, hoping his persistence might sway me. My mother, soft-hearted as she is, initially went down to persuade him a few times before finally giving up.
On the day I sent my parents off, it rained heavily. Leon ran after my car until he collapsed, exhausted and defeated in the rain, watching as I drove away.
Later, I received a call from the hospital.
“Hello, is this Leon’s wife? This is the hospital. Your husband has developed severe pneumonia from fever, could you please come to the hospital?”
Distracted, I recalled a past incident where I had a high fever at home and had desperately called him for help.
He only picked up after numerous calls and responded with drunken scorn.
“Are you crazy? Just a fever and you’re nagging about going to the hospital. Do you think the hospital is yours to summon at will? Every time I go out for business, you make a fuss. I’m not coming back tonight. Let the fever burn…”
Before hanging up, I overheard Xenia’s laughter, complimenting him for his ‘manliness.
That night, it was my best friend who took me to the hospital where I eventually developed pneumonia due to delayed treatment.
At the hospital, Leon was impatient, “Just a fever and you turn it into pneumonia. You really are something.”
“Hello? Are you listening?” snapped the nurse from the phone.
Coming back to my senses, I replied indifferently, “Please contact his family.”
Nonetheless, I ended up visiting the hospital because Leon promised he’d sign the divorce papers if I did.
I arrived with nothing, sitting emotionlessly beside his bed.
Leon, mistaking my presence for concern, exclaimed excitedly, “Baby, you finally came to see me.”
Impatiently, I corrected him, “I’m here for you to sign the papers, not to visit.”ada
He seemed oblivious to my intentions, continuing to plead his case.
“Baby, I realize my mistakes now. I’ve deleted Xenia’s contact, completely cutting her off. I’ve even redone the car’s interior, removing all unnecessary
decorations. Look at this!”
He suddenly lifted his shirt to show the scars where he had removed his tattoo with a blade, desperate to prove his change.
Seeing me silent, he continued to apologize.
“Baby, I admit I indulged myself, between you and Xenia, I unconsciously chose her every time, neglecting your feelings.”
“But I’m very clear, I’ve only ever loved you! There was absolutely no subential relationship between me and herl
I remained unmoved, clarifying, “Leon, cheating is cheating, whether emotional or physical.
I handed him the divorce papers. “I fulfilled your request by coming here; now it’s your turn to keep your promise and sign.
Leon looked at me, unable to grasp the reality as he shook his head in denial.
“No, I won’t divorce. I can’t live without you!”
Ignoring his pleas, I left the room.
A year later, we faced each other in court. He had fallen apart, pleading with me as I discussed plans post-divorce with my lawyer.

As I left the courthouse, he called out desperately, mustering all his strength. “Baby! Just one more chance! I promise to cherish it!”
I continued walking, undeterred until I heard the sound of someone falling down the steps.
I paused momentarily but then resumed my stride toward Yale’s car, ready to embrace a future filled with endless possibilities, forever moving forward, never looking back.
